Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Salford City will be aiming to put an end to their seven-game winless run in League Two when they face Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions have been slipping down the standings week by week, with the team sitting in the danger zone ahead of the Boxing Day clash. Salford are eager to return to winning ways in the English fourth tier and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Super Whites. Matt Smith is widely expected to return to the starting XI.
Tranmere, on the other hand, continue with their old habit of producing fine performances at home, while struggling on the travels. Tranmere Rovers have yet to record a win on the road this season, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on draw. Nigel Adkins has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Greater Manchester.
Highlighted Player (Jordan Turnbull):
Born in Trowbridge, England, on October 30, 1994, Jordan Turnbull is a professional footballer who plays for Northampton Town as a defender. Turnbull is a product of Swindon Town football academy, but in 2007 he was spotted by Southampton scouts.
Despite signing a professional contract with Southampton, he did not see any game action with the Saints at senior level. The English footballer made no fewer than 86 league appearances for Swindon Town during his loan spell with the Robins, and in 2016 he signed a contract with Coventry City.
Jordan Turnbull spent the 2017/2018 on loan Partick Thistle before joining Northampton Town permanently. Speaking of his international career, the Northampton centre-back has two caps with the England U19 team, and one cap with the England U20. Jordan Turnbull, who is used as a left-back as well, wears the number 6 jersey at Northampton Town. His preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Salford):
Founded during the Second World War (1940) as Salford Central, the League Two side play their home games at Moor Lane. The stadium, which was opened in 1978 and renovated in 2019, can hold up to 5,108 spectators. The Lions wear red jerseys and white shorts when playing in front of home fans, while white and black are the dominant colours of their away kit.
Salford City secured promotion to the League 2 at the end of the 2018/19 as they defeated Flyde 3-0 in the National League play-offs final. The match was played at Wembley Stadium, with Touray, Pergianni, and Dieseruvwe scoring for the Lions.
In the 1977/78 season Salford City won their first Manchester Premier Cup trophy, with the team repeating the success the following year. Bury are seen as the club’s main rivals, but their rivalry with the likes of Oldham and Rochdale is pretty big as well.
