Our prediction for this League 2 match:
All eyes will be on Prenton Park when Tranmere and Cambridge face each other in the League Two derby. Tranmere suffered a dip in form, with the team failing to win the previous three league fixtures, but a victory over Cambridge could see them climb to the Champions League berth. Both Nugent and Lloyd-McGoldrick could be recalled to the starting XI as the Super Whites failed to impress in the 4-0 defeat to Cheltenham.
The Yellows, on the other hand, are eager to retain top position in the standings. Cambridge United are eyeing their fifth consecutive win in the League Two, but beating Tranmere at Prenton Park is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards, and we believe that punters can find value in betting on draw. In the first half of the season the two sides shared the spoils at Abbey Stadium.
Highlighted Player (Jay Spearing):
After impressing in Liverpool’s youth academy, Jay Spearing made 30 appearances in the league for the first team. However, the English midfielder was playing below expectations in the Premier League and, as a result, he was sent on loan to Leicester City in 2010.
Spearing played for Bolton Wanderers on loan as well and in 2013 he signed a permanent deal with the Trotters. He scored three goals, while providing six assists for his teammates in 37 appearances for Bolton in the 2016/2017 League One campaign and, no doubt, he helped the club secure promotion to the Championship.
Jay Spearing, who was born in Wallasey, England on November 25, 1988, has yet to make his England debut. His main position is defensive midfield, but he is capable of playing as both central and left midfielder as well. Jay Spearing has a deal with Bolton Wanderers which expires in the summer of 2021.
Highlighted Team (Cambridge United):
Cambridge United are an English football club that compete in League Two. The U’s play their home games at Abbey Stadium, the venue which was built back in 1923. Owned by Grosvenor Estates, Cambridge United’s home ground can hold up to 8,127 spectators.
The U’s wear amber and black jerseys and black shorts when playing in front of home fans, while white and blue are the dominant colours of their away kit. Cambridge United won the FA Trophy in 2014, with the team making it to the FA Cup quarter-finals two times (1989/90, 1990/91). In the 1968-69 season, the U’s clinched the Southern League Cup title.
Cambridge United recorded their biggest league win in March 2007 as they outclassed Weymouth 7-0, and they repeated the success against Forest Green (2009) and Morecambe (2016). Peterborough United are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but they maintain rivalries with Northampton Town, Colchester United, Luton Town, Stevenage, and Histon as well.
