Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Prenton Park will host Tuesday’s football game between Tranmere Rovers and Mansfield Town, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table. The Rovers have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team losing to Swindon, beating Sutton, while sharing the spoils with Gillingham. Nigel Adkins has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Mansfield Town.
The Yellows, on the other hand, are leading the chase for the automatic promotion. Mansfield quickly bounced back from a 2-1 loss to MK Dons and seeing that Tranmere have little to play for in the remainder of the season, we predict that Nigel Clough’s men are going to pick up all three points from the midweek clash. In their last meeting at Prenton Park Mansfield Town defeated Tranmere Rovers 2-0 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself.
Highlighted Player (Lucas Akins):
After making his first football steps in Huddersfield Town youth academy, Lucas Akins made his first-team debut against Northampton Town as he came as a substitute to replace Luke Beckett. However, he made no more than five appearances for Huddersfield Town as he was sent on loan to Nortwich Victoria.
After spending two seasons at Hamilton Academical, the winger, who was born on 25 February 1989, joined Tranmere Rovers in July, 2010. Lucas Atkins scored 7 goals in 77 appearances for the club and in 2012 he signed a contract with Stevenage. The English footballer played 77 league games for the Boro and he scored 13 goals for the club.
During the 2013/2014 campaign he was on Burton Albion’s radar and at the end of the season he joined the Pirelli Stadium outfit. Lucas Atkins enjoys playing football, but dancing is considered his passion as well. His main position is right wing, but he plays as both centre forward and left winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Mansfield):
Founded in 1897, Mansfield Town are a professional club that compete in the League 2, the English fourth tier. The Stags are well known for their yellow shirts and blue shorts, while the colour of their away kit is black. Field Mill is the club’s home ground, the stadium with the capacity of 9,186.
The venue was built back in 1861 and renovated in 1999. Chesterfield and Notts County are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals. Mansfield Town did well to win the Football League Trophy in 1986/1987 season, with the team beating Bristol City on penalties at Wembley Stadium.
The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the regular time, with Kevin Kent and Glyn Riley scoring for Mansfield Town and Bristol City respectively. Goalkeeper Rod Arnold is the player with most appearances as he played 513 games for the Stags in all competitions.
