Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
High-flying Brest will be aiming to extend their winning run to seven games when they face Montpellier at Stade Francis-Le Ble on Matchday 19. Brest look unstoppable at the moment, but the game against La Paillade will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. Head coach Michel Der Zakarian is unlikely to make changes to the starting XI that faced Olympique Marseille at the weekend. All Denys Bain, Sebastien Cibois, and Paul Lasne should miss out with injuries for the hosts.
Montpellier, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Metz (3-1) and Clermont (1-0). La Paillade are high on spirits ahead of the trip to Brest, and, taking everything into account, we believe that punters can find value in betting on draw. All Maxime Esteve, Thibault Tamas, and Pedro Mendes are out of contention with injuries for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Ludovic Baal):
Ludovic Baal is a left-footed football player who was born on May 24, 1988. Baal was born in Paris, but he is a product of the Le Mans youth academy and it has to be noted that he made 12 appearances for the club in his first season with the MMArena outfit.
His main position is left-back, but he is capable of playing as a left midfielder as well. Considering that he is a French-born player, Ludovic Baal was illegible to play for both France and the French Guayana national team.
Baal decided to represent French Guayana on international stage and he made three appearances for the team in the group stages of the 2012 Caribbean Cup. He found the net in a 4-1 win over Anguilla, with Gary Pigree scoring a hat-trick for French Guayana. Ludovic Baal currently play for Rennes as a left-back and his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit expires on June 30, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Montpellier):
Over the years Montpellier have established themselves as a mid-table side in French Ligue 1. Montpellier are considered one of the youngest clubs in France as they were founded in 1974, but it has to be noted that a number of high-profile footballers played for the club in the past. French football legend Laurent Blanc played for Montpellier from 1981-1993 and he scored 76 goals in 24 appearances in the league for the club. Eric Cantona, Roger Milla, Carlos Valderama and Olivier Giroud played in Montpellier’s colors as well, but Pascal Baills is the player with most appearances for the club (429).
La Paillade did remarkably well to win the Ligue 1 trophy in 2012 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Montpellier won Coupe de France on two occasions (1929, 1990), with the team beating FC Sete and FC Paris respectively in the title games. The team welcome their rivals at Stade de la Mosson and the capacity of the stadium is 32.900. In 1999 Montpellier won the UEFA Intertoto Cup.
