Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Clermont will look to make amends for a shocking Coupe de France loss to Strasbourg Koenigshoffen when they take on Rennes in the Ligue 1 round 18. Clermont did well to beat Lyon on the road in their last league match, but the bookies still see them as underdogs in Wednesday’s encounter. The good news for the hosts is that defender Maximiliano Caufriez is back from suspension.
Les Rouges et Noirs, on the other hand, aim to build on the French Cup win over Bordeaux, and given their attacking potential, we predict that the visitors are going to emerge triumphant in the midweek showdown. Midfielder Xeka limped off with injury at the weekend, with teenager Chimuanya Ugochukwu likely to step up, while all Terrier, Assignon, Doue, and Santamaria remain on the sidelines for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Birger Meling):
Born in Stavanger, Norway on December 17, 1994, Birger Meling is a defender who plays for Eliteserien club Rosenborg. Meling began his youth career at Viking back in 2000, but 13 years later he moved to English club Middlesbrough. However, the Norwegian footballer did not play for the Riverside Stadium outfit at senior level.

Speaking of his international career, Meling made his debut with the Norway national team on November 11, 2017 in a 2-0 loss over North Macedonia.
