Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After suffering a heavy 5-1 loss at Rennes, Dijon will be looking to give fans some cheer when they take on Metz in the Ligue 1 round 35. Dijon are stuck at the bottom of the table, with the team failing to secure the elite division survival, but their pride will be at stake in Sunday’s clash. The rock-bottom side aim to finish the season in great manner, and we predict that they will take advantage of Metz’s current form. All Boey, Konate, Ndong, and Muzinga are sidelined with injuries for the home team.
Les Grenats, on the other hand, suffered an expected 3-1 loss to PSG at the weekend. Metz are on a seven-game winless run in the French top flight, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. The likes of Pajot, Tchimbembe, and Cabit are out for the rest of the season, while Opa Nguette is unlikely to recover in time to face Dijon.
Highlighted Player (Bersant Celina):
After starting his youth career at Stromsgodset, Bersant Celina moved to Manchester City youth academy in 2012. Two years later the midfielder, who was born in FR Yugoslavia on September 9, 1996, signed a three-year professional contract with the Citizens, but he made no more than one appearance for the big-spending club in the Premier League.
Bersant Celina came as a substitute for David Silva in a 3-1 home loss to Leicester City at Etihad Stadium on February 6, 2016. Celina played for the likes of Twente and Ipswich Town before joining Swansea City for a fee of £3 million.
Speaking of his international career, the 181-cm tall midfielder played for Norway U15, U16, U17 and U21 teams, but he represents Kosovo senior team on the international stage. Bersant Celina made his debut for Kosovo in September 2014 against Oman. His main position is attacking midfield, but he is used as a winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference).
However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club.
Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
