Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
There will be fireworks when Lorient and Olympique Lyon lock horns at Stade du Moustoir on Matchday 25. Les Merlus quickly bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Nantes, with the team beating Rennes in their last league match and, no doubt, they are high on confidence ahead of Saturday’s encounter. Mohamed Bamba limped off with injury in the triumph over Rennes, with teenager Eli Junior Kroupi likely to step up.
Les Gones, on the other, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-0 loss to Lens. Lyon and Lorient, though, seem to be evenly matched at the moment and, taking everything into account, we predict that they are going to share the spoils at Stade du Moustoir. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is banned for the visiting side, while both Alexandre Lacazette and Johann Lepenant are sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Saïd Benrahma):
Said Benrahma is an Algeria international who started his club career at Nice. The pacey winger made his Ligue 1 debut during the 2013/2014 season and after scoring 3 goals in 17 appearances for les Aiglons in the French top flight, he moved to the Championship team Brentford in the summer of 2018.
Said Benrahma was born in Ain Temouchent, Algeria on August 10, 1995 and it has to be noted that he played for the likes of Angers, Gazelec Ajaccio and Chateauroux on loan before joining the Griffin Park outfit. The Algerian footballer impressed in the 2018/2019 Championship season, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists for his teammates.
His main position is right winger, but he is used as a left winger as well. Speaking of his international career, Said Benrahma made his debut for the Algeria national team on October 13, 2015 in a 1-0 win over Senegal.
Highlighted Team (Lorient):
Founded back in 1926, Lorient is a French football club that competes in Ligue 1. Les Merlus have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Coupe de France in the 2001/02 season. In the title game, Lorient defeated Bastia thanks to Jean-Claude Darcheville’s goal.
The same season les Merlus made it to the Coupe de la Ligue final, but Bordeaux proved to be a big catch (0-3) for them in the title game. Lorient welcome their rivals at Stade du Moustoir, the stadium which can hold up to 16,392 spectators. The colour of the team’s home shirt is orange with a little black on it, while white is the dominant colour of their away jersey. In the 2002/03 season Lorient represented France in European competitions.
Les Merlus, though, failed to impress on their debut in the UEFA Cup as they were beaten by Denizlispor in the round 1 double-header.
