Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Buoyed by a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lens, Olympique Marseille will be aiming to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on Lorient on Matchday 33. As OM are eyeing a spot in European competitions, we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at les Merlus. The good news for the hosts is that forward Faris Moumbagna is back from suspension, while all Rongier, Ruiz, and Nadir continue to miss out with injuries.
Lorient, on the other hand, do not seem to be at their sharpest, with the team losing each of their last six league matches. As les Merlus have been struggling at the back of late, we predict that the hosts are going to emerge triumphant in Sunday’s showdown. The likes of Formose Mendy, Ayman Kari, Bamba Dieng, Bonke Innocent, Igor Silva, and Quentin Boisgard remain on the sidelines with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Amine Harit):
Amine Harit is a French-born Moroccan footballer, who plays for Schalke 04 in Bundesliga. Born in Pontoise (France) on June 18, 1997, Harit began his youth career in the suburbs of Paris, learning the football basics with Argentuil C.O.
After spending four years at Esperance Paris 19eme, the attacking midfielder moved to famous French club Paris Saint-Germain. However, he quickly returned to Esperance Paris 19eme and in 2011 he joined fellow French club Red Star. One year later he moved to Nantes, where he ended his youth career.
Amine Harit continued playing for les Canaris at senior level and after scoring one goal in 30 league games for Nantes, he signed a contract with Bundesliga side Schalke 04. Harit made two appearances for France U21 team, but he represents Morocco at senior level. The attacking midfielder, who is used as a winger as well, made his Morocco debut on October 7, 2017 against Gabon in the 2018 FIFA world cup qualifiers.
Highlighted Team (Lorient):
Founded back in 1926, Lorient is a French football club that competes in Ligue 1. Les Merlus have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Coupe de France in the 2001/02 season. In the title game, Lorient defeated Bastia thanks to Jean-Claude Darcheville’s goal.
The same season les Merlus made it to the Coupe de la Ligue final, but Bordeaux proved to be a big catch (0-3) for them in the title game. Lorient welcome their rivals at Stade du Moustoir, the stadium which can hold up to 16,392 spectators. The colour of the team’s home shirt is orange with a little black on it, while white is the dominant colour of their away jersey. In the 2002/03 season Lorient represented France in European competitions.
Les Merlus, though, failed to impress on their debut in the UEFA Cup as they were beaten by Denizlispor in the round 1 double-header.
