Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Following a thrilling 2-0 win over PSG at Parc des Princes, Monaco will be aiming to keep their Ligue 1 title hopes alive when they take on Brest on Matchday 27. Les Rouges et Blancs have been producing splendid displays in the second half of the season, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play against Brest. The likes of Martins, Pellegri, and Geubbels are all likely to miss the game with injuries, while Russia international Golovin is pushing for a start.
Les Pirates, on the other hand, showed character in a 3-2 loss to Lyon, but they eventually failed to make a historical comeback. Brest are not regarded as good travellers, and, taking everything into account, we believe that punters can find value in betting on the in-form hosts. In their last meeting at Stade Louis II Monaco recorded a routine 4-1 win over Brest.
Highlighted Player (Djibril Sidibé):
Born in Troyes, Djibril Sidibe made his first football steps at his hometown club. Having excelled throughout the youth ranks, Sidibe was rewarded with his professional debut in 2010. Two years later he moved to Lille where he established himself as one of the biggest prospects in French football.
A 2016 move to Ligue 1 giants Monaco came as a reward for his impressive qualities. Sidibe is a solid right-back who is great at picking out passes, especially with crosses. A determined individual, Sidibe does not easily get caught out in a wide space. His impressive footwork make him a difficult player to play against going forward which he has a knack for.
Monaco are expected to be another stepping stone in his career and it won’t be too long before the World Cup winning French international has made a move to one of Europe’s top sides.
Highlighted Team (Brest):
Founded in 1950, Brest (Stade Brestois) are a French football club that compete in the Ligue 1. La Team Pirate welcome their opponents at Stade Francis-Le Ble, the venue which was opened back in 1922. The capacity of the stadium is 15,931, but on August 8, 1986 21,619 watched the game between Brest and Olympique Marseille.
The club’s home colours are red and white, with the team wearing black kit when playing on the travels. Brest’s third kit is white. La Team Pirate, who made it to the French Cup on two occasions (1982/83 and 2014/15), have rivalries with fellow clubs from Bretagne: Rennes, Lorient, Nantes, Guingamp and Vannes.
The likes of Bernard Lama Stephane Guivarch, Paul le Guen, David Ginola and Frank Ribbery are the most notable footballers who played for the club. Bayern Munchen legend Frank Ribery scored 3 goals in 35 appearances for Brest in the national championship.
