Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Monaco will be looking to build on a thrilling 4-0 win over St Etienne when they take on Metz at their Stade Louis II on Matchday 31. Les Rouges et Noirs impressed in their last game before the international break, with the team reviving their title hopes. Monaco footballers are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of St Etienne, but they can’t afford any complacency in Saturday’s clash. In-form Montenegro attacker Stevan Jovetic should keep his place up front, alongside Kevin Volland, while Ben Yedder should start from the bench.
Aurelien Tchouameni is banned for the match, while Pieto Pellegri, Willem Geubbels, and Gelson Martins remain sidelined with injuries. Metz, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-1 loss to Rennes, and given Monaco’s impressive home record, the visitors are likely to return to Lorraine. Oukidja is sidelined through suspension, while Tchimbembe, Nguette, N’Doram, Niane, and Cabit all miss the game with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Benjamin Lecomte):
Benjamin Lecomte is a French goalkeeper who started playing football at the age of six. Lecomte was born in Paris on April 26, 1991 and in 1997 he joined Arcueil Municipal football academy. After spending eight years at the club he joined Antony Sports in 2006 and four years later he moved to Niort. Finally, he continued his footballing development at Lorient.
The 186-cm-tall shoot-stopper played 22 games Lorient B before making his first-team debut in October 2010 in a Coupe de la Ligue match against AS Monaco. In 2017 he moved to Montpellier, signing a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit. The Montpellier goalkeeper has 2 caps for France U20 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior team.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference).
However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club.
Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
