Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Out-of-sorts Montpellier will look to put an end to their six-game winless run in all competitions when they take on Angers in the Ligue 1 round 17. La Paillade do not seem to be at their sharpest, but Sunday’s clash could be the turning point for the home side. As Montpellier produced a fine performance in a 1-0 loss to Olympique Lyon, home win should be considered. Midfielder Joris Chotard is back from suspension, which goes in favour of our prediction.
Les Scoistes, on the other hand, kickstarted 2025 in style, with the team beating Brest 2-0 in front of home fans. Angers, though, are on a three-game losing run at Stade de la Mosson. In their last meeting at the venue, Montpellier rolled over Angers 5-0 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself. Forward Justin-Noel Kalumba misses out with injury for the visiting side, while defender Halid Sabanovic will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
Highlighted Player (Téji Savanier):
Born in Montpellier on December 22, 1991, Teji Savanier is a French footballer who plays for Nimes in the Ligue 1 as a midfielder. Savanier began his senior career at Arles-Avignon and it has to be noted that he played for the club from 2011 to 2015.
Ahead of the start of the 2015/2016 Ligue 2 campaign, Teji Savanier joined Nimes and he has been playing for the club ever since. The 171-cm tall midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at Nimes and he successfully plays for the club in the French top flight. Savanier’s main position is central midfield, but he is used as an attacking midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Despite producing fine performances for Nimes in all competitions, Teji Savanier has yet to receive a call-up for the French national football team. His contract with Nimes should expire on June 27, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Angers):
French Football Federation was founded in 1919, with French football club Angers being founded the same year. Les Scoistes returned to the French top flight at the end of the 2014/2015 season and they finished the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign in ninth place in the standings.
Angers were having their ups and downs in the 2016/2017 season and, as a result, they finished 12th. Les Scoistes are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst the color of their away kits is white. Stade Raymond Kopa is the team’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 17.835.
The venues was opened back in 1912 and the stadium’s record attendance is 22.989 (April 26, 1969 vs. Olympique Marseille). Speaking of the club’s most notable players, we have to mention Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Vladica Kovacevic, Claudiu Keseru, Paul Alo’o, Amar Rouai and Cedric Daury. It has to be noted that the 2017/2018 season will be their 24th in the French top flight.
