Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Nantes and Strasbourg go head to head at Stade de la Beaujoire in the Ligue 1 round 13. Les Canaris continue with their old habit of producing much better showings at home than on the travels, with the team eyeing their fourth consecutive win at home ground. Sebastien Corchia is banned, while all Ludovic Blas, Osman Bukari, and Quentin Merlin are sidelined with injuries.
Le Racing, on the other hand, rolled over Lorient 4-0 in their last home game, but their away record in the 2021/2022 Ligue 1 season is anything but brilliant. Considering that Nantes have turned their Stade de la Beaujoire into a real fortress, the visitors are unlikely to grab something from Sunday’s clash. Experienced attacker Kevin Gameiro remains in the recovery room, alongside Karol Fila and Lebo Mothiba, but there are no suspended players in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Anthony Limbombe):
A Belgian player of Congolese descent, Anthony Libombe is a versatile forward who is equally able to play as a winger. The talented 22-year-old began his career at Racing Genk in 2010, while he spent the last two years as a member of Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
During a two-year spell in the Eredivisie, Anthony Limbombe made 65 league appearances for NEC scoring 21 goals during that time. Limbombe has been outstandingly impressive during the 2015-16 season when he scored 7 goals and notched 7 assists in the Eredivisie. Belgium international has long been linked with a move to English side Leeds, who followed him closely in Eredivisie, but Limbombe chose to return to Belgium in the summer of 2016 when he signed a deal with Club Brugge reportedly worth £2 million.
Anthony Limbombe is yet to make his competitive debut for his new side, but the club management has huge expectations from a young forward who could go on to be a huge revelation in the Champions League.
Highlighted Team (Strasbourg):
Founded back in 1906, Strasbourg is a professional football team that compete in French Ligue 1. Le Racing did remarkably well to win the 1979 Ligue 1 trophy and that is considered the biggest success in the history of the club. Strasbourg won Coupe de France on three occasions (1951, 1966, 2001) and they have three Coupe de la Ligue trophies as well (1964, 1997, 2005). Strasbourg’s main rivals are Metz and the two teams face each other in the Derby de l’Est (The Eastern derby).
Le Racing recorded their biggest victory over Valenciennes (10-0) in the 1937-1938 season, whilst they suffered their biggest loss to Limoges (0-8) in the 1959/1960 season. Paraguayan goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert, who is well known for his free-kick abilities, played for the club from 2000 to 2003, but he failed to score in a league match during his spell with the Stade de la Meinau outfit. Speaking of Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg’s home ground was opened back in 1914 and the capacity of the venue is 29,320.
