Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Nice and Olympique Marseille square off against each other at Allianz Riviera in what is expected to be a close Ligue 1 encounter. Les Aiglons have been in a fine form of late, with the team beating both Rennes and Nimes, while sharing the spoils with Lorient. Nice are stuck in the middle of the standings, but they are surely capable of matching OM, who are eyeing a place in the Europa League.
Olympique Marseill have been showing signs of improvement, with the team beating the likes of Rennes and Brest in the previous two league fixtures. January signing Arkadiusz Milik has found his goalscoring touch, and we are positive that he will proved a handful for the opposition defenders. Anyhow, share of spoils is on the cards as Nice are tough to beat at home. Both Valentin Rongier and Jordan Amavi are likely to miss the game with injuries for the visitors, while Jean-Clair Todibo is back from suspension for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Morgan Schneiderlin):
Morgan Schneiderlin is a French football player born on 8th of November 1989 in Zellwiller. Schneiderlin started his football career for RC Strasbourg where he made his debut in 2006/2007 for the first team. After playing for 231 games for Southampton he made a transfer to Manchester United in summer 2015 for approximately 34 million euro.
Schneiderlin made his debut for the French national tam in June 2014 after his impressive performances for Southampton. Schneiderlin played for more than 10 games in the French national team and will play a lot more in the near future. Schneiderlin is a right-footed defensive midfielder which is known for playing very rough and is not afraid to tackle his direct opponent. In the season 2012/2013 Schneiderlin was rewarded as player of the year for Southampton.
The football career of Schneiderlin is remarkable showing that it’s possible for every hard working football player to reach the top. In 10 seasons of professional football the only prize Schneiderlin won was the Football League Trophy with Southampton in 2009/2010.
Highlighted Team (Marseille):
Olympique de Marseille are considered one of the best French football clubs. Les Olympiens won their ninth Ligue 1 title in 2010, but winning of the 1992/1993 Champions League trophy is seen as the club’s biggest success. Marseille defeated Italian giants Milan in the title game, with Basile Boli scoring the winner (1-0) in the Olympiastadion showdown.
It has to be noted, though, that the Stade Velodrome outfit were banned from defending the title in the 1993/1994 season after being involved in a match-fixing scandal. To make things even worse for the fans, the club suffered enforced relegation to the Ligue 2. Olympique de Marseille participated in the Europa League final on two occasions (1998/1999, 2003/2004), but they were beaten by Parma and Valencia respectively in the title games. OM’s home ground Stade Velodrome was opened on June 13, 1997 and the capacity of the stadium is 67.394.
The likes of Franck Ribery, Didier Deschamps, Didier Drogba, Laurent Blanc, Fabien Barthez, Samir Nasri, Fabrizio Ravanelli and Djibril Cisse all played for Marseille in the past.
