Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
PSG and Lorient face each other in a David-vs-Goliath clash at Parc des Princes. Les Parisiens are still recovering from the Champions League loss to Real Madrid, and, as a result, they were hammered by Monaco (0-3) before the international break. Mauro Pochettino’s troops are eager to cement top position in the standings, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Lorient.
Leo Messi is back to the starting XI, while all Sergio Ramos, Layvin Kurzawa, and Juan Bernat should miss out with injuries. Les Merlus, on the other hand, are only one point clear of the relegation zone. Anyhow, Lorient often struggle on the travels, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling PSG’s party in the “City of Love”. Bonke Innocent is banned for the match, while all Samuel Loric, Stephane Diarra, and Fabien Lemoine miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Kylian Mbappé):
Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.
In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.
Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.
Highlighted Team (Lorient):
Founded back in 1926, Lorient is a French football club that competes in Ligue 1. Les Merlus have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Coupe de France in the 2001/02 season. In the title game, Lorient defeated Bastia thanks to Jean-Claude Darcheville’s goal.
The same season les Merlus made it to the Coupe de la Ligue final, but Bordeaux proved to be a big catch (0-3) for them in the title game. Lorient welcome their rivals at Stade du Moustoir, the stadium which can hold up to 16,392 spectators. The colour of the team’s home shirt is orange with a little black on it, while white is the dominant colour of their away jersey. In the 2002/03 season Lorient represented France in European competitions.
Les Merlus, though, failed to impress on their debut in the UEFA Cup as they were beaten by Denizlispor in the round 1 double-header.
