Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After rolling over Pays de Cassel 7-0 in the Coupe de France, PSG will look to cement top position in the Ligue 1 table when they take on Reims on Sunday evening. Les Parisiens are leading the chase for the domestic trophy, but both Lens and Marseille are still breathing down their neck. Leo Messi returns to the starting XI after he was rested in the French Cup triumph, while both Marco Verratti and Nordi Mukiele remain on the sidelines with injuries.
Les Rouges et Blancs, on the other hand, faced no difficulties in the Coupe de France victory over Les Herbiers, but they will have a mountain to climb at Parc des Princes. PSG are desperate to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Rennes, and seeing that all Neymar, Mbappe, and Messi are fit for the match, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. Both Noah Jean Holm and Nathanael Mbuku are injured for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Kylian Mbappé):
Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.
In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.
Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.
Highlighted Team (Reims):
Reims are a French football club founded in 1931. Reims welcome their rivals at Stade Auguste Delaune, which can hold up to 21,684 people. Believe it or not, Reims won six Ligue 1 titles (1948/1949, 1952/1953, 1954/1955, 1957/1958, 1959/1960, 1961/1962). To make things even better for the fans, Reims participated in the European Cup final on two occasions.
In 1956 they faced Real Madrid in the title game and despite taking the lead after six minutes, the French side eventually suffered a 4-3 loss to los Blancos at Parc des Princes. Three years later Reims had a chance to get their revenge on Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants once again won the European Cup, with Mateos and Di Stefano finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Albert Batteux.
The club’s most notable footballer is Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals for France at the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals. Reims’ home colours are red and white, with the team wearing white when playing on the road.
