Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Stade Auguste-Delaune will host Sunday’s Ligue 1 game between Reims and Olympique Lyon. Les Rouges et Blancs have yet to record a win in the new season, and they face yet another uphill task against les Gones. Both Rafik Guitane and Anastasios Donis miss the game with injuries, while Thomas Foket is a major doubt, and he will be assessed ahead of the match.
Lyon, on the other hand, made a promising start to the season, with the team beating both Ajaccio and Troyes, and given Reims’ slow start to the new campaign, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Lucas Paqueta and Co. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team, while goalkeeper Anthony Lopes remains on the sidelines through suspension. All Boateng, Diomande, Dembele, and Pollersbeck are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Moussa Doumbia):
A Malian midfielder Moussa Doumbia has been with Russian side FK Rostov since 2014. The 22-year-old powerful midfielder started his career with Real Bamako in 2012. Doumbia spent two years playing for the Scorpions in the Malien Premiere Division, the top rank in the country. Russian side recognised his talent and made a transfer in 2014 tying Moussa Doumbia on a four-year deal.
During two seasons with Russian Premier League outfit, Doumbia was involved in 31 league matches. In 2015-16 season he contributed to his club’s runners-up finish with two goals of his own. Full-time Mali international made his national team debut in 2014 in a 3-1 victory over China in Shenzen.
His most recent international appearances occurred in September during an empathic 5-2 win over Benin in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Doumbia went on to score his team’s fifth goal with eleven minutes on the clock rounding off an impressive performance.
Highlighted Team (Lyon):
Commonly referred to as Lyon, Olympique Lyonnais is the French club which play their games at the Parc Olimpique Lyonnais with a capacity just a pinch short of 60,000. Lyon is one of the most popular clubs in France with a vast fan base on par with Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille.
The club achieved moderate success during the 1960s and 1970s led by the likes of Bernard Lacombe and Jean Djorkaeff, while the golden era of the French side came at the start of the new millennium when Lyon began to achieve greater success both in France and on the international level.
It was not until 2002 that Lyon won their first ever Ligue 1 title which sparked an ongoing national record-breaking streak of seven successive titles. During that time Lyon were regular participants of the UEFA Champions League. The French club reached quarter-finals on two occasions, while they even played in the semi-finals in the 2009-10 season.
