Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Stade Auguste-Delaune will host Sunday’s football game between Reims and Metz, the two bottom-table sides. Reims aim to escape the relegation zone, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against les Grenats. However, we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the hosts, who head into the match with a severely-weakened squad. All Toure, Cassama, Doumbia, and Konan are on international duty, while Hugo Ekitike misses out through suspension.
To make things even worse for the hosts, all Matusiwa, Munetsi, and Zeneli are sidelined with injuries. Metz will be without several first-team regulars as well as all Alakouch, Boulaya, Oukidja, Koyate, Maiga, Sarr, and Bronn are on the Africa Cup of Nations. Anyhow, a close encounter is on the cards at Stade Auguste-Delaune, and we believe that punters from all four corners of the world can find value in betting on draw.
Highlighted Player (Ghislain Konan):
Ghislain Konan is an Ivory Coast footballer, who plays for Stade de Reims in Ligue 1. Born in Abidjan on December 27, 1995, the pacey left-back began his senior career at his hometown club ASEC Mimosas in 2015. However, in 2016 Konan moved to Portugal, signing a deal with Vitoria de Guimaraes.
After making 44 appearances for the Portuguese outfit in Primeira Liga, he moved to Stade de Reims in 2017. Konan made his Ligue 1 debut in a 1-0 victory over Nice at Allianz Riviera. Speaking of his international career, the Stade De Reims defender made his Ivory Coast debut in a goalless draw with Mali on October 6, 2017.
The two teams faced each other in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Konan’s preferred foot is left and his contract with Stade de Reims should expire in June, 2022. Ghislain Konan wears No. 3 jersey at Stade de Reims.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference).
However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club.
Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
