Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After failing to win the previous three league matches, Reims will look to return to winning ways in Ligue 1 when they host Monaco to their Stade Auguste-Delaune. The hosts aim to stay in top ten in the standings, but they will have a big fish to fry against Adi Hutter’s troops. All Abdoul Kone, Maxime Busi, Joseph Okumu, and Mohammed Daramy miss out with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
Les Rouges et Blancs, on the other hand, recorded a routine 2-0 win over Toulouse at their Stade Louis II and they now aim to overtake Olympique Marseille in second place. As Reims do not seem to be at the top of their game, we are tempted to place our bets on the visiting side. Switzerland striker Breel Embolo is widely expected to return to Monaco’s starting XI after scoring as a substitute against les Pitchouns, while defender Vanderson is sidelined through suspension.
Highlighted Player (Breel Embolo):
Born in Younde, Cameroon on February 14, 1997, Breel Embolo is a striker who plays for Bundesliga side Schalke 04. Embolo began his youth career at Nordstern back in 2008, but two years later he moved to Old Boys.
In 2010 the Switzerland international joined Basel and he continued playing for the RotBlau at senior level. After scoring 21 goals in 61 appearances for the club in the Swiss Super League, Breel Embolo signed a five-year deal with Schalke 04 in June, 2016 for a fee of €20 million.
The Schalke striker made his Bundesliga debut on August 27 in a 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt. Speaking of his international career, Breel Embolo has four caps for Switzerland U21 team and he made his senior debut on March 31, 2015 in a 1-1 draw with United States of America. Embolo is very powerful striker, he is technically strong, he has explosive pace and a composed finisher.
Highlighted Team (Reims):
Reims are a French football club founded in 1931. Reims welcome their rivals at Stade Auguste Delaune, which can hold up to 21,684 people. Believe it or not, Reims won six Ligue 1 titles (1948/1949, 1952/1953, 1954/1955, 1957/1958, 1959/1960, 1961/1962). To make things even better for the fans, Reims participated in the European Cup final on two occasions.
In 1956 they faced Real Madrid in the title game and despite taking the lead after six minutes, the French side eventually suffered a 4-3 loss to los Blancos at Parc des Princes. Three years later Reims had a chance to get their revenge on Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants once again won the European Cup, with Mateos and Di Stefano finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Albert Batteux.
The club’s most notable footballer is Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals for France at the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals. Reims’ home colours are red and white, with the team wearing white when playing on the road.
