Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Stade Geoffroy-Guichard will host Saturday’s Ligue 1 game between St Etienne and Brest, the two teams who sit in the opposite parts of the table. Les Verts are fighting tooth and nail to secure the survival, and a win over Brest should see them escape the relegation zone. Cameroon international Yvan Neyou is banned for the match, while Tunisia star Wahbi Khazri continues to miss out with injury.
Anyhow, home win should be considered as the hosts want this triumph more than the visitors. Les Pirates, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Nantes. Brest, though, have little to play for in Saturday’s clash, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the relegation-threatened hosts this time out. Martin Satriano serves a one-game ban, while Sebastian Cibois is struggling with an Achilles tendon injury.
Highlighted Player (Ryad Boudebouz):
Despite being born in Colmar, France on February 19, 1990 Ryad Boudebouz represents Algeria on the international stage. The Montpellier midfielder played for both France U17 and France U19 teams in the past, but he made his senior debut with Algeria on May 28, 2010 in a friendly against Republic of Ireland.
Speaking of his club career, Boudebouz played for Colmar and Sochaux at youth level and he continued playing for Sochaux first team. After scoring 24 goals in 164 appearances in the league for the club, he moved to Bastia in 2013 and he played 66 games for les Bleus.
Ryad Boudebouz played for the Corsican side from 2013 to 2015 and he signed a four-year deal with Montpellier and you should know that he netted 11 goals in 33 appearances for la Paillade in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign. His main position is attacking midfield, but he is capable of playing at both left and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Brest):
Founded in 1950, Brest (Stade Brestois) are a French football club that compete in the Ligue 1. La Team Pirate welcome their opponents at Stade Francis-Le Ble, the venue which was opened back in 1922. The capacity of the stadium is 15,931, but on August 8, 1986 21,619 watched the game between Brest and Olympique Marseille.
The club’s home colours are red and white, with the team wearing black kit when playing on the travels. Brest’s third kit is white. La Team Pirate, who made it to the French Cup on two occasions (1982/83 and 2014/15), have rivalries with fellow clubs from Bretagne: Rennes, Lorient, Nantes, Guingamp and Vannes.
The likes of Bernard Lama Stephane Guivarch, Paul le Guen, David Ginola and Frank Ribbery are the most notable footballers who played for the club. Bayern Munchen legend Frank Ribery scored 3 goals in 35 appearances for Brest in the national championship.
