Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Strasbourg and Rennes face each other at Stade de la Meinau in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Wednesday’s program. Le Racing are sitting in 5th place in the Ligue 1 standings, and, no doubt, they want to put icing on the cake on a very successful season. All Nordine Kandil, Abdul Majeed Waris, and Ismael Doukoure are sidelined through injuries for the home team.
Les Rouges et Noirs, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to Monaco. Considering that both sides will go for a win in the midweek clash, punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on both teams to score. All Aguerd, Doku, Gomis, Bade, Sulemana, and Gelin are sidelined with injuries, speaking of the away side. In the first half of the season Rennes defeated Strasbourg thanks to Nayef Aguerd’s late goal.
Highlighted Player (Frédéric Guilbert):
Despite his modest height for a centre-back, Frederic Guilbert is a remarkably strong in aerial duels. Former France U21 international is a player of great positional awareness and tactical discipline who makes immense defensive contribution for his team.
A versatile defender who can play in various positions across the backline, Guilbert can also be deployed as a right midfielder where his speed and agility come to play. Born in Valognes, Frederic Guilbert spent all of his career playing in France although he has thus far failed to spend more than two seasons at a single club. Spells at Caen, AS Cherbourg, Bordeaux were insufficient for Guilbert to secure regular playing time and prove his worth, which he hopes would change at Caen.
Guilbert joined the Stade Michel d’Ornano based club on a permanent deal in 2017, after a season-long loan spell away from Bordeaux. He went on to play 42 matches across all competitions in his second season with Caen and has done well to announce himself as an important player for the French side.
Highlighted Team (Rennes):
Stade Rennais Football Club or simply Rennes is a French football club which was founded on March 10, 1901. The club is one of the founding members of the French Ligue 1 and they are nicknamed Les Rouges et Noirs. Roazhon Park is the club’s home ground and the venue can hold 29.778 people. Rennes have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy, but they won Coupe de France title on two occasions (1964/1965, 1970/1971). Speaking of Coupe de la Ligue, les Rouges et Noirs made it to the final of the competition in the 2012/2013 season, but they were beaten by Saint Etienne (1-0) in the title game at Stade de France.
A number of top-class footballers played for Stade Rennais Football Club in the past and the likes of Sylvain Wiltord, Yoann Gourcuff, Yann M’Vila, Moussa Sow and Jimmy Briand are considered the club’s most notable players. Rennes footballers wear black and red jerseys when playing at home, while they wear white when playing on the travels.
