Our prediction for this MLS match:
Saputo Stadium will host Sunday’s MLS game between Montreal and Atlanta United, the two teams who are sitting in the playoffs berth. Montreal have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team beating Nashville, sharing the spoils with Charlotte, while losing to New York City. The Canadian outfit are eyeing their eighth home win of the process and we predict that they are going to adopt an attack-minded approach against Atlanta United. Both Rommel Quioto and Samuel Piette should miss out with injuries.
The Five Stripes, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 4-0 loss to New York Red Bulls, with the team beating Philadelphia Union 2-0 in front of home fans. Atlanta United, though, are not regarded as good travellers and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing more than one point from Sunday’s clash. As for the away side, Franco Ibarra misses out through suspension, while Erik Lopez has yet to overcome an ankle injury.
Highlighted Player (Victor Wanyama):
Over the years Victory Wanyama has established himself as one of the best Kenyan footballers. Wanyama started his senior career at Belgian club Beerschot and after scoring 2 goals in 51 appearances in the league for de Ratten, he moved to Celtic in 2011.
The defensive midfielder, who is very strong in the tackle, decided to leave the Hoops in 2013, signing a deal with Premier League side Southampton for a fee of £12.5 million.During his spell at St. Mary’s Stadium Victory Wanyama established himself as a first-team regular at Southampton and thanks to his thrilling displays with the Saints, Tottenham Hotspur chiefs made a tempting offer for the Kenya international.
In 2016 Wanyama signed a four-year deal with the capital club and he has been playing for Spurs ever since. The Tottenham midfielder was born in Nairobi on June 25, 1991 and he made his international debut for the Kenya national team in a friendly against Nigeria in May, 2007.
Highlighted Team (Atlanta United):
Atlanta United is a Major League Soccer club and they were founded on April 16, 2014. They are based in Atlanta, Georgia and they will make their debut in MLS in 2017. Arthur Blank is the club’s owner and Bobby Dodd Stadium is Atlanta United’s home ground.
Arthur Blank is an American businessman, who is well known for his ownership of the NFL club Atlanta Falcons. The venue was opened on September 27, 1913 and its’ current capacity is 60.316. However, it has to be noted that the team will play first eight home games of the 2017 season at Bobby Dodd Stadium, while the latter nine fixtures will be hosted by Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Speaking of the club’s colors, Atlanta United footballers wear black and red shirts and black shorts with a little bit of gold mixed in. Gerardo Martino, who used to be in charge of La Liga side Barcelona in the past, will coach Atlanta United in the 2017 MLS season. Tata Martino won the Spanish Super Cup with Barca, while making it to the Copa America final with Argentina on two occasions (2015, 2016).
