Our prediction for this MLS match:
Dallas and Toronto face each other at Toyota Stadium in the opening match of the new MLS campaign. Dallas were producing fine displays in pre-season, with the team beating all Orlando City, San Antonio, and Houston Dynamo, while sharing the spoils with Chicago Fire. Guinea-Bissau defender is back from international duty, while new signing Paul Joseph Arriola is likely to make his MLS debut against Toronto.
The Reds, on the other hand, failed to impress in the 2021 MLS season, with the team finishing the process in the penultimate place in the standings. The Canadian outfit aim to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign, but beating Dallas on the road is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards at Toyota Stadium, and we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. Both Ralph Priso and Ayo Akinola are sidelined with injuries, while latest signing Jesus Jimenez Nunez is likely to make his MLS debut on Saturday.
Highlighted Player (Matt Hedges):
Matthew Hedges is a 193-cm tall centre back who was born in Rochester, New York on April 1, 1990. At the age of 18 he started his college career at Butler Bulldogs and in 2011 he moved to North Carolina Tar Heels. After scoring 18 goals in total in college football, Matt played for Reading United before joining MLS club FC Dallas.
The American footballer has been playing for FC Dallas since 2012 and in 2016 he won both US Open Cup and Supporters’ Shield with the Toros. Matthew Hedges made his debut for USA national soccer team on February 8, 2015, coming as a substittute in the 72nd minute in a friendly against Panama.
2017 was the most successful year of his career as he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Yenks. USA defeated Jamaica 2-1 in the title game, but Matt Hedges was not given an opportunity to play in the final. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Toronto FC):
Toronto is a club based in Canada, but they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2007. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment own both the soccer club and National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs. BMO Field is the club’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 30.000.
The Canadian outfit impressed in the 2016 MLS Cup and they faced Seattle Sounders in the title game at BMO Field. However, the Canadians were more than unfortunate not to lift the silverware as they were beaten by the Sounders on penalties.
Speaking of the Canadian Championship, Toronto FC won their fifth domestic title in 2016, with the team beating Vancouver Whitecaps in the final of the tournament. Montreal Impact are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in meetings between the two Canadian sides. Toronto FC’s home kit is red and it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Reds. It has to be noted that the club was founded back in 2005.
