Our prediction for this MLS match:
Dignity Health Sports Park will host Sunday’s MLS game between Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Salt Lake, the two teams who are eyeing a spot in the playoffs. LA Galaxy proved their worth in back-to-back wins over Colorado Rapids (4-1) and San Jose Earthquakes (3-2), and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. As always, a man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Javier Hernandez Chicharito, who scored a brace in the last league fixture, while both Jonathan Perez and Jorge Villafana miss out with injuries.
The Royals, on the other hand, have a chance to regain their spot in top seven, but given their poor form, away win should be considered. Since Pablo Mastroeni’s troops collected only one point in total from the last four league fixtures, they are unlikely to spoil Los Angeles Galaxy’s party at Dignity Health Sports Park. The visitors will be without Bobby Wood, Damir Kreilach, and Zack Farnsworth in Sunday’s encounter.
Highlighted Player (Gareth Bale):
Gareth Bale is a Welsh footballer who plays for Real Madrid as a winger. “Bailo” was born in Cardiff on 16 July, 1989 and, as expected, he played for his home-town club Cardiff Civil Service at the start of his youth career. He moved to Southampton’s football academy in 1999 and he made a great progress during his spell with the Saints.
Bale made 40 league appearances for the first team and it has to be noted that he played as a full back at the start of his senior career. In 2007 he signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur and he was producing thrilling performances with the White Hart Lane outfit from 2007 to 2013. Real Madrid chiefs did well to sign him on 1 September, 2013 for a fee of €91 million.
The Welsh winger won two Champions League trophies with los Blancos (2013/2014, 2015/2016) and, speaking of his international career, he made it to the European Championship finals with Wales. The Welsh ace scored three goals at the showpiece tournament in France as the Dragons reached the semi-final.
Highlighted Team (Real Salt Lake):
Real Salt Lake joined Major League Soccer in 2005 as an expansion team of the league and four years later they won their first MLS Cup. The Royals faced star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game at Qwest Field in Seattle and Jason Kreis’ troops defeated David Beckham and Co. on penalties.
In 2013 Real Salt Lake made it to the MLS Cup final for the second time in the club’s history, but they were beaten by Sporting Kansas City on penalties this time out. The Royals participated in the CONCACAF Champions League final in 2011 as well, but Monterrey of Mexico eventually won the title. Real Salt Lake footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is white.
The likes of Clint Mathis, Jeff Cunningham and Eddie Pope are some of the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Jeff Cunningham scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Royals.
