Our prediction for this MLS match:
Buoyed by a 3-0 win over Toronto FC, New York Red Bulls will be aiming to return to winning ways when they take on DC United on Sunday morning. The Red Bulls have won four of their last five home games and they are seen as favourites to beat the capital club in front of home fans. Both Carlos Coronel and Lewis Morgan are on international duty, while the likes of Kyle Duncan, Emil Forsberg, Peter Stroud, Roald Mitchell, and Serge Ngoma are out of contention with injuries.
DC United, on the other hand, are on a three-game losing run in the Major League Soccer. In their last meeting in MLS New York Red Bulls crushed DC United 4-1, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered. To make things even worse for the away team, both Christian Benteke and Matai Akinmboni are banned for the match.
Highlighted Player (Christian Benteke):
Christian Benteke, born on 3th of December 1990 is a Belgian football player with roots from Congo. Benteke started his career at KRC Genk and after playing for Standard Liege, KV Mechelen, KV Kortrijk and Aston Villa the striker got transferred to Liverpool. Benteke is 191cm and is known for being a very strong goal scoring striker. In May 2010 Benteke made his debut for the Belgian national team.
Christian Benteke didn’t win any mayor prices yet. In the season 2008/2009 he won the national league of Belgium. Benteke is signed by Nike and got transferred to Liverpool for 46 million euro which makes him the second most expensive football player from Belgium. Benteke’s nickname is The Beast or Bentegoal.
Highlighted Team (New York Red Bulls):
New York Red Bulls is the first club from New York City to join Major League Soccer. In 2006 the club was sold to Red Bull GmbH and, as a result, they are nicknamed the Red Bulls. New York welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena and the team’s home colors are white and red.
On the other hand, the Red Bulls wear dark blue shirts and yellow shorts on the road. In 2008 New York Red Bulls made it to the MLS Cup final, but they were not capable of matching Columbus Crew (1-3) in the Home Depot Center clash. A number of top-class footballers were part of the team in the past, but former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry is the synonym of the club.
Henry scored 51 goals in 122 league games for New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014 and it has to be noted that he scored his first MLS hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Montreal Impact on March 31, 2012. The likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Lothar Matthaus, Roberto Donadoni, Rafael Marquez, Juninho and Tim Cahill played for the club in the past as well.
