Sporting Kansas City
Real Salt Lake play host to Sporting Kansas City at their Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday evening. The Royals kicked off the new MLS campaign in style, with the team beating Minnesota United on the road, and, no doubt, they are high on spirits ahead of the visit of Sporting. New signing Julio Santos, who scored a brace against the Loons, will be the man to watch in the home team.
The Wizards, on the other hand, aim to extend their unbeaten run to three games, but they face a difficult task in the Rio Tinto Stadium clash. Sporting Kansas City failed to impress in the 1-1 draw with Orlando City, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the home team. There are no absentees in the home side, while all Dia, Melia, Thompson, and Zusi have been struggling with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Nedum Onuoha):
Nedum Onuoha was born in Warri, Nigeria on 12 November, 1986, but he was brought up in Manchester. He attended Xaverian College Manchester and he was a very good student. He was an outstanding junior sprinter as well and it has to be noted that he won the silver medal at the English School’s Athletics Association Junior 100 metres contest.
Speaking of his football career, he began playing at Manchester City at age 18, scoring three goals in 95 league appearances for the Citizens. He spent the 2010/2011 season on loan at Sunderland and in 2012 he signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Queens Park Rangers.
Despite the fact that he was born in Nigeria, Onuoha was eligible to play for England and you should know that he has 20 caps for England U21 team. However, he was never given a senior England debut despite being really close on several occasions. Onuoha won the Championship play-offs with Queens Park Rangers in the 2013/2014 season.

Sporting Kansas City have been competing in Major League Soccer since 1996 and they won their first MLS Cup trophy in 2000. The club faced Chicago Fire at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington in the play-offs final and Miklos Jon Molnar scored the winner for Bob Gansler’s team. 13 years later Sporting Kansas City met with Solt Lake in the title game and they were fortunate to defeat the Royals on penalties.
The Wizards welcome their rivals at Children’s Mercy Park, but they used to play some games at Blue Valley Sports Complex, Julian Field, Hermann Stadium and Durwood Soccer Stadium in the past as well. Sporting Kansas City were founded in 1995 and the club’s original name was Kansas City Wiz.
The Wizards wear navy blue shirts and dark blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is blue. Former Wigan Athletic man Roger Espinosa is regarded as one of the club’s most notable players and he has been playing for the Children’s Mercy Park outfit since 2015.
