Our prediction for this MLS match:
PayPal Park will be the centre of attention when San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles Galaxy lock horns in an eagerly-awaited MLS game. San Jose aim to make amends for a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas and we are positive that they will leave their hearts on the field in their first home game of the season. New signing Vitor Costa is pushing for his first MLS start, while both Niko Tsakiris and JT Marcinkowski are out of contention with injuries.
LA Galaxy, on the other hand, continue life without Javier Hernandez Chicharito, who returned to Mexico and, in his absence, a man to keep an eye on in the away team will be new recruit Joseph Paintsil. Given Los Angeles Galaxy’s attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Marco Delgado is banned for the match, while all Jalen Neal, Julian Aude, and Lucas Calegari should miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Martin Caceres):
Martin Caceres is a widely travelled and well known Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Juventus. Primarily a central defender, Caceres is known for his tenacity, pace, strength, tackling and aerial ability. He is versatile and can operate as full-back on either sides too. Caceres started his career at Defensor Sporting and became a regular at a very young age.
In 2007, he went to Spanish side Villarreal but never officially appeared for them. He then was snapped up by Barcelona in 2008 for a reported transfer fee of € 16.5 million. But his only season at the Camp Nou was marred with injuries and moved to Juventus in 2012 via a short stop at Sevilla.
Caceres made his full senior team debut in 2007 and was a successful member of the team that won the 2011 Copa America. He also played at the 2014 World Cup and has 68 national caps to his credit.
Highlighted Team (San Jose Earthquakes):
San Jose Earthquakes are members of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. The Quakes have been participating in the league since 1996 and they won their first MLS Cup trophy in 2001. Back then San Jose outplayed star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game, but it has to be noted that they scored the winner in the extra time.
Two years later the Quakes managed to repeat the success, with the team beating Chicago Fire in the 2003 MLS Cup final. Avaya Stadium is the home ground of San Jose Earthquakes and the capacity of the venue is 18.000. The construction of the stadium cost no less than $100 million and the venue was opened in March, 2015. The club’s home colors are blue and black, whilst the Quakes wear white and red shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels.
Chris Wondolowski is the club’s biggest star and he has been playing for San Jose Earthquakes since 2009. The USA ace has 121 league goals on his account ahead of the start of the 2017 season.
