Our prediction for this MLS match:
Sporting Kansas City will look to climb to the playoffs berth when they take on Nahshville on Thursday morning. The Wizards recorded three wins in the previous four league matches and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to beat Nashville on home soi. All Kayden Pierre, Graham Zusi, and Kortne Thompson-Ford are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
The visitors, on the other hand, do not seem to be at their sharpest, with the team failing to win the previous six league matches. In their last meeting in the Major League Soccer Sporting Kansas City defeated Nashville 2-1 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself. As always, a man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Hany Mukhtar, who scored a late equalizer against Charlotte, while Teal Bunbury misses out through suspension.
Highlighted Player (Johnny Russell):
After spending the greatest part of his career at Derby County, Johnny Russell joined Sporting Kansas City in 2018. Russell was born in Glasgow, the capital of Scotland, on April 8, 1990 and he started his youth career at Dundee United.
The 178-cm tall attacker was producing fine performances for the Scottish side from 2007 to 2013 when he moved to Derby County. The Rams booked their place in the Championship on several occassions, but they eventually failed to secure promotion to the Premier League. As a result, Johnny Russell decided to move to MLS, signing a three-year deal with Sporting Kansas city on January 31, 2018.
The Scotland international made his debut for the Wizards in the opening match of the 2019 season against New York City. Speaking of his debut for the national team, he played his first game for Scotland in November 2014 in a 3-1 loss to England. His main position is left winger, but he is capable of playing as both centre-forward and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Nashville):
Nashville is one of the newer additions to the Major League Soccer, with the team being founded on December 20, 2017. The Yellows made their MLS debut on February 29, 2020, with the team taking on Atlanta United at their Nissan Stadium.
The match was played in front of 59,069 spectators, with Nashville suffering a 2-1 defeat. Nissan Stadium was opened on August 27, 1999, and it can hold up to 69,143 people. Nashville recorded their first MLS triumph on August 13, 2020, with the team beating Dallas on the road. The match was played behind closed doors due to the fierce of coronavirus spread.
Ghana international David Accam scored the only goal of the match. The club’s primary colours are electric gold and acoustic blue, with the club’s crest being a gold octagon with monogram “N”. Nashville footballers wear yellow shirts and yellow shorts when playing at home, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey.
