Sporting Kansas City will be looking to make amends for a massive League Cup loss to Columbus Crew when they restart their MLS campaign with a home game against Orlando City. The Wizards are eager to keep their playoffs hopes alive and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Lions. Defender Kortne Ford remains on the sidelines with injury, but the 28-year-old should be the only absentee in the home team.
Orlando City, on the other hand, shared the spoils with New York City in their last league match. The Lions are determined to stay in the playoffs berth, but given Cesar Araujo’s suspension, we do not believe that they are capable of collecting more than one point from Sunday’s showdown. Nicolas Lodeiro is an experienced midfielder, who played for Barrio Obrero and Nacional during his youth career. In 2007 he tasted senior-team football for the first time ever and it has to be noted that he scored nine goals in 43 appearances in the league for Nacional.
In January 2010 the Uruguayan footballer joined Ajax, but he played no more than 21 games in the Eredivisie during his spell with the Amsterdammers. In 2012 he returns to South America, signing a four-year deal with Botafogo. During his spell with O Glorioso, Nicolas Lodeiro represented Uruguay at 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The left-footed footballer was part of Corinthians and Boca Juniors before joining Seattle Sounders in 2016. Speaking of his international career, Lodeiro made his Uruguay debut against Costa Rica in the 2010 World Cup play-offs. The MLS star, who wears the No. 10 shirt, was born in Paysandu, Uruguay on March 21, 1989. In 2016 he won MLS Cup with Seattle Sounders.

Sporting Kansas City have been competing in Major League Soccer since 1996 and they won their first MLS Cup trophy in 2000. The club faced Chicago Fire at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington in the play-offs final and Miklos Jon Molnar scored the winner for Bob Gansler’s team. 13 years later Sporting Kansas City met with Solt Lake in the title game and they were fortunate to defeat the Royals on penalties.
The Wizards welcome their rivals at Children’s Mercy Park, but they used to play some games at Blue Valley Sports Complex, Julian Field, Hermann Stadium and Durwood Soccer Stadium in the past as well. Sporting Kansas City were founded in 1995 and the club’s original name was Kansas City Wiz.
