Our prediction for this MLS match:
Sporting Kansas City play host to Real Salt Lake at their Children’s Mercy Park in what is expected to be an interesting MLS game. The Wizards have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team losing to Chicago Fire, beating Vancouver Whitecaps, while sharing the spoils with Houston Dynamo. Sporting are eager to climb to the playoffs berth and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Thursday’s clash.
A man to watch in the away team will be Alan Pulido, who scored a brace in the last league match, while all Nemanja Radoja, Graham Zusi, Tim Melia, William Agada, and Kortne Thompson-Ford remain in the recovery room. The Royals, on the other hand, have won four of their last five league matches and they are surely capable of matching the Wizards at Children’s Mercy Park. Taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. All Maikel Chang, Erik Holt, and Zack Farnsworth are out of contention through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Johnny Russell):
After spending the greatest part of his career at Derby County, Johnny Russell joined Sporting Kansas City in 2018. Russell was born in Glasgow, the capital of Scotland, on April 8, 1990 and he started his youth career at Dundee United.
The 178-cm tall attacker was producing fine performances for the Scottish side from 2007 to 2013 when he moved to Derby County. The Rams booked their place in the Championship on several occassions, but they eventually failed to secure promotion to the Premier League. As a result, Johnny Russell decided to move to MLS, signing a three-year deal with Sporting Kansas city on January 31, 2018.
The Scotland international made his debut for the Wizards in the opening match of the 2019 season against New York City. Speaking of his debut for the national team, he played his first game for Scotland in November 2014 in a 3-1 loss to England. His main position is left winger, but he is capable of playing as both centre-forward and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Real Salt Lake):
Real Salt Lake joined Major League Soccer in 2005 as an expansion team of the league and four years later they won their first MLS Cup. The Royals faced star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game at Qwest Field in Seattle and Jason Kreis’ troops defeated David Beckham and Co. on penalties.
In 2013 Real Salt Lake made it to the MLS Cup final for the second time in the club’s history, but they were beaten by Sporting Kansas City on penalties this time out. The Royals participated in the CONCACAF Champions League final in 2011 as well, but Monterrey of Mexico eventually won the title. Real Salt Lake footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is white.
The likes of Clint Mathis, Jeff Cunningham and Eddie Pope are some of the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Jeff Cunningham scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Royals.
