Wednesday’s football match at Stadionul Zimbru pits together Moldova and Israel, the two teams with sit at the bottom of Group F. Moldova experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a heavy 8-0 loss to Denmark, and they must be low on confidence ahead of the visit of Israel. The Moldovans have never defeated Israel on the international stage, which is yet another reason why we are not tempted to put our money on the underdogs.
The Blue and Whites, on the other hand, dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Scotland. Israel are eager to record their first win of the process, and they should take advantage of Moldova’s shaky defence. Hoffenheim attacker Munas Dabbur is widely expected to return to Israel’s starting XI after coming as a substitute in the draw with Scotland. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team ahead of the trip to Chisinau.

Alexei Koselev is a Moldovan international who plays for Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard. Koselev started his youth career at Kuban Krasnodar, but he did not see any game action with the Russian club at senior level.
The Moldovan goalkeeper played for the likes of Gagauzia, Dacia-2 Buiucani, Real-Succes, Saxan Gagauz Yeri, FC Tiraspol, Sheriff Tiraspol, and Politehnica Iasi before joining Fortuna Sittard in the summer of 2018. Alexei Koselev has 18 caps for the Moldova U21 team, and he made his senior debut in a qualifier against Russia in 2015.
The 200-cm-tall shot-stopper managed to keep his first clean sheet with the Moldova national team in a 2-0 win over San Marino on March 19, 2017. Alexei Koselev’s preferred foot is right, and he wears the No. 77 shirt at Fortuna Sittard. He made his Eredivisie debut on August 11, 2018 in a 1-1 draw with Excelsior.

Israel are the direct successor of the Mandatory Palestine national football team. The Israelis received full UEFA membership in 1994, 20 years after leaving AFC and they have been facing European sides in the World Cup qualifiers ever since. Israel participated at the 1970 FIFA World Cup finals in Mexico, but they failed to make it to the knockout stages of the showpiece tournament.
