Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Groningen and Zwoll go head to head at Euroborg in the Eredivisie round 22. Groningen have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team losing to both Vitesse and Heracles on the road, while beating Den Haag at home. The Green-White army produce much better displays at home than on the travels, and, as a result, they are seen as favourites to win Saturday’s clash. Dutch veteran Robben remains on the sidelines with injury, as well as Matusiwa, Joosten, and El Messaoudi.
Zwolle, on the other hand, are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures. The Blauwingers have been scoring goals for fun of late, and given Groningen’s fine home record, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Van Polen remains on the sidelines through suspension, while Paal, Tedic, and van Duinen are likely to miss the game through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Sergio Padt):
Sergio Padt is a Dutch footballer who plays for Eredivisie club Groningen as a goalkeeper. Padt played for the likes of Pancratius, Hoofddorp, and Ajax during his youth career, but he did not see any game action with the Amsterdammers at senior level.
Following short loan spells with the likes of Haarlem and Go Ahead Eagles, Sergio Padt signed a deal with Belgian outfit Gent in June, 2011. After making 55 appearances for the club in the Belgian top flight, the Dutch shot-stopper joined Groningen in the summer of 2014. Sergio Padt did remarkably well to win the KNVB Cup with the Green-White Army in the 2014/15 season, with the team beating PEC Zwolle in the title game.
The Groningen goalkeeper, who was born on June 6, 1990, has five caps for the Netherlands U-21 team. Speaking of his senior career, he received two call-ups for the national team, but has yet to make his debut.
Highlighted Team (Zwolle):
Founded on June 12, 1910, PEC Zwolle is a Dutch football club which competes in the Eredivisie. Zwolle have yet to win the national championship, but they did remarkably well to lift the Dutch Cup trophy in 2014. Ron Jans’s troops impressed in the title game, with the team rolling over Dutch giants Ajax 5-1.
The Blauwingers play their home games at MACPARK Stadion, the venue with the capacity of 14,000 people. The multi-use stadium was opened on August 29, 2009. Zwolle’s home kit is blue and white, while the colour of their away jersey is green and white. In the 2014/15 season the Blauwingers represented the Netherlands in the Europa League, with the team losing to Sparta Prague in the play-off round.
The likes of Henk Timmer (237), Johan Hansma (231), Bert Konterman (219), Arne Slot (208), and Jasper Drost (182) are the players with the most league appearances for the club. Go Ahead Eagles are considered the club’s biggest rivals as both teams are located at the river Ijssel.
