Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
PSV will be aiming to keep their title hopes alive when they take on Heracles at Philips Stadion on Sunday afternoon. PSV failed to impress in a 2-0 loss at AZ Alkmaar, but they are still seen as hot favourites to beat Heracles on home soil. Roger Schmidt’s men are eyeing their 11th home win of the process, and we are positive that the hosts will go all guns blazing at Frank Wormuth’s troops.
Heracles are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures, but seeing that they have already suffered six defeats on the road this season, we are tempted to put our money on the home team. In the previous meeting between the two sides at Philips Stadion PSV recorded a routine 3-1 win over Heracles, who have not defeated Roger Schmidt’s team in the national championship since September 2015.
Highlighted Player (Philipp Max):
Philipp Max is the son of the former striker Martin Max, who is famous for being one of the oldest winners of the top scorer crown in Bundesliga, at the age of 32 and 34. Born in Viersen, Germany, Philipp Max started his career in SC Baldham, after which he joined 1860 Munich in 2003.
Bayern Munich youth team was his next destination, but three years after Max signed for Schalke 04 in 2010. For two years he played in the youth team and after that he was moved to Schalke 04 II, recording 54 games and netting 3 goals in the process.
He made his debut for the Shalke 04 senior team on March 2014 in the clash against Borussia Dortmund, as a replacement for Julian Draxler. However, he did not impress during his spell with Die Königsblauen, so he moved to Karlsruher and later on to Augsburg, which was a spot on decision. The left back, who can also play as a left midfielder and left winger, was the second-best assist provider in the Bundesliga during the season 2017/18, just behind Thomas Muller.
Highlighted Team (Heracles):
Heracles is a professional Dutch club based in Almelo. The club was formed back in May 1903 and named after Heracles, the demigod son of Zeus. From 1974 to 1998 the club played under the name of SC Heracles ’74. The Heraclieden’s home colours are black and white, while blue is the dominant colour of their away shirt.
Twente are considered one of the club’s main rivals in the Netherlands. Speaking of the club’s achievements, it has to be noted that Heracles have won two Eredivisie trophies (1926/27, 1940/41). In the 2011/12 season they made it to the Dutch Cup final. Heracles faced PSV in the title game, with the Dutch giants proving to be a big catch for the underdogs.
PSV won the game 3-0. In the 2016/17 season Heracles participated in the Europa League, with the team suffering elimination to Arouca in the third qualifying round. Everton is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart with 77 goals.
