Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Following a 2-2 draw with Sparta, Vitesse will look to start a new winning run in the Eredivisie when they host Zwolle to their GelreDome. The Vitas are on a three-game winning run at home in all competitions, and, as a result, the bookies see them as favourites to win the midweek clash. Lois Openda is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while all Eli Dasa, Oussama Darfalou, and Daan Reiziger should miss out with injuries.
Zwolle, on the other hand, suffered yet another heart-breaking loss at the weekend, with the team losing to Twente in front of home fans (1-3). The Rock-bottom side have collected no more than six points in total in the 2021/2022 season; therefore, we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Vitesse’s party at GelreDome. All Sam Kersten, Dean Huiberts, and Pelle Clement are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Riechedly Bazoer):
Despite playing for PSV during his youth career, Riechedly Bazoer made his Eredivisie debut with Ajax. The central midfielder who was born on 12 October, 1996 in Utrecht, scored his first goal for Ajax on 15 February, 2015 in a 4-2 victory over Twente.
Four days later he made his European debut with the Amsterdammers, taking part in a 1-0 win over Legia in the Europa League. Bazoer scored five goals in 29 league appearances for Ajax in the 2015/2016 season, but he failed to win the domestic trophy with Frank de Boer’s troops.
Speaking of his international career, Bazoer has two caps for Netherlands U21 team and he made his debut for the first team on 13 November, 2015 against Wales. It has to be noted that he came as a late substitute in the 3-2 victory over the Dragons. Back in 2012 the right-footed midfielder won the UEFA U17 European Championship with the Dutch national team.
Highlighted Team (Zwolle):
Founded on June 12, 1910, PEC Zwolle is a Dutch football club which competes in the Eredivisie. Zwolle have yet to win the national championship, but they did remarkably well to lift the Dutch Cup trophy in 2014. Ron Jans’s troops impressed in the title game, with the team rolling over Dutch giants Ajax 5-1.
The Blauwingers play their home games at MACPARK Stadion, the venue with the capacity of 14,000 people. The multi-use stadium was opened on August 29, 2009. Zwolle’s home kit is blue and white, while the colour of their away jersey is green and white. In the 2014/15 season the Blauwingers represented the Netherlands in the Europa League, with the team losing to Sparta Prague in the play-off round.
The likes of Henk Timmer (237), Johan Hansma (231), Bert Konterman (219), Arne Slot (208), and Jasper Drost (182) are the players with the most league appearances for the club. Go Ahead Eagles are considered the club’s biggest rivals as both teams are located at the river Ijssel.
