Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Saturday’s football game at MAC³PARK Stadion pits together Zwolle and Fortuna Sittard, the two relegation-threatened sides. Zwolle are stuck at the bottom with only six points in their pocket, but this match could be the turning point for the hosts. Keep in mind that Dick Schreuder’s troops were a better sit in the draw with Groningen at the weekend.
Fortuna Sittard, on the other hand, are on a six-game losing run in the Dutch top flight. Sjors Ultee’s troops have been struggling at the back of late, and seeing that they conceded 22 goals in total in the previous six matches, we believe that Zwolle will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways. Midfielder Roel Janssen is back from suspension for the visiting team, while forward Lisandro Semedo is rated doubtful for the match.
Highlighted Player (Thomas Lam):
Thomas Lam is a footballer who can play as both centre back and defensive midfielder. Lam was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 18 December, 1993, but seeing that his mother is Finnish, he was eligible to play for the Finland national team.
After making 11 appearances for the Finland U21 team, he made his debut for the senior team on 9 June, 2015, in a friendly against Estonia. He started the game, but the Finns suffered a 2-0 loss to the Estonians in Turku. Speaking of his club career, Thomas Lam played for AZ Alkmaar between 2011 and 2014 and then he joined fellow Eredivisie side Zwolle.
The 188-cm-tall footballer scored four goals in 64 appearances for the club and in July 2016 he signed a contract with Nottingham Forest. Lam won the KVNB Cup with AZ Alkmaar in 2013 and he was named Promising Player of the Year in 2011. His agent is world-famous Mino Raiola and his contract with Forest expires on 30 June, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Sittard):
Fortuna Sittard is one of the newer additions to Dutch football as the club was founded on July 1, 1968. During the 1990s talented footballers such as Kevin Hofland, Mark van Bommel, and Fernando Ricksen played for the club, but they failed to close the gap between Dutch giants Ajax and PSV. In 1999, though, the Fortunezen did well to make it to the Dutch Cup final, with the team facing Ajax in the title game.
Amsterdammers defeated Fortuna Sittard 2-0 at De Kuip, with Jesper Gronkjaer scoring a brace. Fortuna Sittard players wear yellow shirts and green shorts when playing at home, while their away kit is white. The Fortunezen host their rivals at Fortuna Sittard Stadion. The venue was built in 1999, and it can hold up to 12,500 spectators.
Aforementioned midfielder Mark Van Bommel is the most notable footballer who played for the club. After ending his spell with Fortuna Sittard in 1999, Mark van Bommel played for the likes of PSV, Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, and Milan.
