Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Following a 2-1 loss to Sporting CP in the Lisbon derby, Benfica face a must-win situation against Moreirense on Sunday evening. The Eagles have no other choice but to go all guns blazing at Os Verdes e Brancos, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. Roger Schmidt’s troops aim to melt Sporting’s advantage in the Primeira Liga standings, but they will have to do it without suspended midfielder Fredrik Aursnes.
Rui Borges’ troops, on the other hand, dropped a two-goal advantage in a 2-2 draw with Estrela and given their difficulties at the back, we do not believe that Benfica will have a better chance than this to return to winning ways in the Portuguese top flight. Both Jeremy Antonisse and Hernani Infande are out of contention with injuries for the visiting side. Bear in mind that under 2.5 goals have been netted in six of the previous seven meetings between the two sides in all competitions.
Highlighted Player (Angel di Maria):
Angel Di Maria is a professional footballer who played for Argentine side Rosario Central at the start of his senior career. The left-footed winger is very quick on the ball and he often makes life difficult for opposition defenders. After playing for Benfica between 2007 and 2010, the Argentine superstar signed for Real Madrid on 28 June, 2010 for a fee of €25 million + €11 million in bonuses.
Despite impressing with los Blancos in the 2013/2014 La Liga campaign, the club chiefs decided to sell him to Manchester United on 26 August, 2014. Di Maria was playing below expectations at Old Trafford and he scored three goals in 27 league games for the Red Devils.
In 2015 he moved to Paris Saint-Germain and he scored 10 goals in 29 league appearances for les Parisiens in the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign. In 2014 he won the Champions League trophy with Real Madrid and that is considered the biggest success of his career. Angel Di Maria was born in Rosario on 14 February, 1988.
Highlighted Team (Moreirense):
Moreirense are a Portuguese football club based in Moreira de Conegos. Founded on November 1, 1938, Os verdes e brancos welcome their rivals at Parque Moreira de Conegos Guimaraes, the venue which can hold up to 9,000 spectators.
Moreirense wear green and white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst black and red are the dominant colours of their away kit. In the 2016/2017 season Os verdes e brancos did well to win the Taca da Liga trophy, with the team beating Braga 1-0 in the title game.
Caue scored the winner for Moreirense on the stroke of half time. Moreirense impressed in the 2018/2019 Primeira Liga season, finishing the process in sixth position in the standings. The club missed out on a place in the Europa League on goal difference to Vitoria de Guimaraes. Penafiel are considered one of the club’s main rivals.
