Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Maritimo and Rio Ave go head to head at Estadio dos Barreiros in the Primeira Liga round 28. Maritimo have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels. O Maior das Ilhas boss Velazuez should have a full squad to choose from as both Bambock and Zainadine return from suspension. It has to be noted that Maritimo defeated Farense in their last home game in the Portuguese top flight.
Rio Ave, on the other hand, are having a season to forget as they sit in the danger zone ahead of the midweek clash. Since Miguel Cardoso’s troops are not regarded as good travellers, we are tempted to put our money on O Maior das Ilhas. Gelson is banned for the visitors, while both Junio and Andre Pereira remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Charles):
Charles Marcelo da Silva is a Brazilian goalkeeper who plays for Primeira Liga side Maritimo. Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on February 4, 1994, Charles started his youth career at Cruzeiro, and in 2014 he moved to fellow Brazilian club Vasco da Gama.
After making nine appearances in the Brazilian top flight for the Vasco da Gama senior team, Charles was loaned to Maritimo in 2015. In 2016 the 185-cm-tall shot-stopper signed a permanent deal with the Portuguese outfit. Charles Marcelo da Silva has 14 caps with the Brazil U17 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the Brazil senior team.
He made his Maritimo debut in the Portuguese top flight on January 15, 2017, in a 3-1 win over Pacos de Ferreira. Charles managed to keep seven clean sheets in 21 appearances for Maritimo in the 2018/2019 Primeira Liga season. His preferred foot is right, and he wears the number 94 jersey.
Highlighted Team (Rio Ave):
Nicknamed Rio Grande, Rio Ave are a Portuguese club that compete in Primeira Liga. Rio Ave were founded back in 1939 and they welcome their rivals at Estadio dos Arcos, the stadium which can hold up to 12,815 people.
The team’s home shirt is green with white stripes, whilst the colour of their shorts is green. Rio Ave wear white shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The club’s biggest success came in the 2014/2015 season when they represented Portugal in the Europa League group stages. Rio Ave finished the process in the last position in Group J, but they did well to record their first ever win in the competition, with the team beating Danish club Aalborg 2-0 at their Estadio do Rio Ave Futebol Clube.
Former Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao is considered one of the club’s most notable footballers. Manchester City first-choice goalkeeper Ederson played for Rio Ave in the past as well.
