Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Estadio de Sao Miguel will host Monday’s football game between Santa Clara and Belenenses, the two mid-table sides. Santa Clara desperately needed a win against Rio Ave, and they managed to get one, with the team putting an end to their five-game winless run in the Primeira Liga. Os Acoreanos aim to move a little closer to the Europa League berth, and we are positive that they will go for a win in Monday’s clash.
Both Patric and Romao are likely to miss the game with injuries. O Belem, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Tondela. Belenenses are tough to beat at home, but given their anything but good away record in the Portuguese top flight, we believe that punters can find value in betting on Santa Clara. In their last encounter in the Portuguese elite division Santa Clara defeated Belenenses 2-0.
Highlighted Player (Fabio Cardoso):
Fabio Cardoso is a Portuguese defender who was born in Agueda (Portugal) on April 19, 1994. Cardoso started his youth career at his hometown club Agueda, but in 2008 he continued his development at Benfica. After scoring three goals in 55 appearances for Benfica B, he spent the 2015/2016 season on loan at Pacos Ferreira.
In the summer of 2017, he signed a four-year deal with Vitoria Setubal, but he spent only one season at Estadio do Bonfim. Cardoso joined Scottish club Glasgow Rangers in June 2017, signing a three-year contract with the club for a fee of around £1.3 million.
The Portuguese defender, though, made no more than 12 appearances for the Gers, joining Santa Clara in the summer of 2018. Fabio Cardoso has four caps with the Portugal U20 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team. His primary position is a centre-back, but he is often used as a left-back. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Belenenses):
Founded on September 23, 1919, Belenenses are a Portuguese club that host their rivals at Estado do Restelo. The stadium can hold up to 19,856 spectators and it was built in 1956. O Belem play home games in blue shirts and white shorts and white is the dominant colour of their away kit.
By beating the likes of IFK Goteborg and Rheindorf Altach Belenenses booked their place in the Europa League group stages in the 2015/2016 season. Despite defeating Swiss side Basel in their group, the Portuguese club eventually finished the process in the last position in the standings.
The Estado do Restelo outfit did well to win the Primeira Liga trophy in the 1945/1946 season, with the team finishing the season only one point clear of second-placed Benfica. Speaking of the Portuguese Cup, Belenenses clinched their third Taca de Portugal trophy in the 1988/1989 season. Vitor Godinho is the player with most appearances for the club (272).
