Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Brentford will look to make amends for back-to-back losses to Brighton and Sheffield United when they take on Aston Villa in the Premier League round 17. The Bees do not seem to be at their sharpest, with the team losing four of their last five league matches and they face yet another difficult task against the in-form Villans. Talented Ukraine midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk is pushing for a start, while all Aaron Hickey, Nathan Collins, Kristoffer Ajer, and Bryan Mbeumo are out of contention with injuries. Mathias Jensen faces race against the clock to be fit for Sunday’s clash.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, did well to beat Man City and Arsenal in the last two league matches to keep their 100% record at home intact, but given their ups and downs on the road, the share of spoils is on the cards at Brentford Community Stadion. Both Douglas Luiz and Lucas Digne are banned for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Diego Carlos):
Diego Carlos Santos Silva is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Nantes as a defender. His main position is centre-back and his preferred foot is right. Diego Carlos began his youth career at America-SP and in 2010 he moved to Desportivo Brasil. After spending the 2012/2013 season on loan at Sao Paulo, the 185-cm-tall defender returned to Desportivo Brasil.
However, he made his first-team debut with Madureira during his spell with the club (2014). In 2014 Diego Carlos signed a contract with Portuguese club Estoril Praia and he scored two goals in 39 appearances for the Primeira Liga club. It has to be noted, though, that he played for Porto B (on loan) in the 2014/2015 season.
Diego Carlos moved to French club Nantes in the summer of 2016 and you should bear in mind that he quickly established himself as a first-team regular with les Canaris. The Brazilian footballer scored two goals in 34 appearances for Nantes in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign. His contract with the Ligue 1 side expires on June 20, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
