Our prediction for this Premier League match:
There will be fireworks when Brentford and Tottenham face each other in the local derby on Matchday 1. The Bees failed to record a win in preseason and, as a result, the odds for away triumph have been dropping. Considering that key attacker Ivan Toney misses the season opener through suspension, we are not tempted to put our money on the home side. Both Frank Onyeka and Bryan Mbeumo are major doubts.
Tottenham chiefs, on the other hand, failed to keep hold of top scorer Harry Kane in the summer transfer window, but they added Leicester City midfielder James Maddison to the squad. Anyhow, given Ivan Toney’s absence, we predict that Spurs are going to make a flying start to their Premier League campaign. Hugo Lloris should recover in time to face Brentford, while all Bryan Gil, Troy Parrott, and Ryan Sessegnon are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Heung-min Son):
Over the years Son Heung-Min has established himself as one of the best Asian footballers. Son is a Tottenham Hotspur first-team regular and he played a very important role in Mauro Pochettino’s team in the 2017/2018 Premier League campaign, scoring 12 goals, while making 37 appearances in the process.
The South Korean footballer, who is well known for his speed and a very powerful shot, was born in Chuncheo on 8 July 1992 and he began his youth career at FC Seoul. In 2008 he moved to Hamburger SV, but he made his senior debut for the Bundesliga club two years later. In 2013 he signed a deal with fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen and he scored 21 goals in 62 appearances in the Bundesliga for the BayArena outfit.
In 2015 he signed a five-year contract with Spurs for a fee of £22 million. Son Heung-min made his South Korea debut in a friendly against Syria in 2010.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
