Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Crystal Palace will look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Manchester United when they take on Brighton in the Premier League round 23. The Eagles do not seem to be at their sharpest, and, as a result, boss Patrick Vieira is under big pressure ahead of the visit of Brighton. Since key player Wilfried Zaha remains on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, home win should not be considered. Joachim Andersen, Nathan Ferguson, and James McCarthur are out of contention as well.
The Seagulls, on the other hand, managed to break the deadlock against Bournemouth, with in-form Japan international Kaoru Mitoma scoring the winner. Brighton are more of a team than Crystal Palace, and we predict that Roberto De Zerbi’s men are going to pick up all three points from the match. Important midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is back from suspension, while both Jakub Moder and Adam Lallana remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Jean-Philippe Mateta):
A talented French youngster Jean-Philippe Mateta worked his way up through football’s less glamorous landscapes plying his trade at local amateur sides and third-tier outfits before Ligue 1 giants Lyon took notice of his 11 goals in 22 matches and brought him to the big league.
Having failed to make it into the first team in a debut season with Les Gones, Mateta was shipped out to Le Havre, leading the club to promotion play-offs. Bundesliga side Mainz took notice of his ability and came calling in the summer of 2018 after he bagged 17 goals in 35 league matches. An imposing physical presence at his 192cm, Mateta is a mobile forward and a decent dribbler who can finish with both of his feet.
Having worked his way up from the very bottom, Jean-Philippe Mateta is a committed individual determined to make a name for himself. His impressive goalscoring record got rewarded in the form of France U19 call-up in 2017.
Highlighted Team (Brighton):
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club were formed in 1901. The Seagulls welcome their opponents at Falmer Stadium and the capacity of Brighton’s home ground is 30,750. The stadium was built in 2008 and it was opened in 2011. The venue is known for commercial purposes as American Express Community Stadium.
Brighton & Hove Albion compete in the Premier League and they play in blue and white stripes. The colour of Brighton’s away kit is green. The club made it to the FA Cup final in 1983, but English giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Red Devils.
Brighton’s main rivals are Crystal Palace and the Seagulls have recorded 35 wins over the Eagles. Frank Stapleton, Martin Chivers, Joe Corrigan, Bobby Zamora, Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Smith, John Crumplin and Frank Worthington are notable footballers who played for Brighton in the past. The Albion is Preston’s yet another nickname.
