Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Leeds United will be aiming to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Leicester City when they face Aston Villa on Thursday evening. The Whites missed a couple of clear-cut chances to score in the King Power Stadium defeat, but it is more than obvious that they struggle in front of goal. Fit-again striker Patrick Bamford is pushing for a start, while important midfielder Kalvin Phillips remains in the recovery room.
Tyler Roberts, though, should be fit for the midweek game. The Villans, on the other hand, aim to build on a thrilling 4-0 win over Southampton. The visitors are safe for now, and seeing that Jesse Marsch’s troops are eager to put an end to their five-game losing run, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the Whites. Both Nakamba and Chukwuemeka are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Kalvin Phillips):
Kalvin Phillips started his youth career at Wortley Juniors, but he has been playing for Leeds United ever since he joined the Elland Road outfit at the age of 15. The 177-cm-tall midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at Leeds, but he has yet to make his debut for the England national team.
Born in Leeds on December 2, 1995 Kalvin Phillips is a right-footed footballer whose main position is defensive midfield. However, he is used as a central midfielder as well. The English footballer scored his first ever goal for the Whites in a 2-1 loss to Cardiff City on April 11, 2015.
Kalvin Phillips made his debut for Leeds United against Wolverhampton on April 6, 2015. Nicknamed “Yorkshire Pirlo”, Phillips is known for his sharp passes and long ball distribution. He covers his defensive duties in style as well.
Highlighted Team (Aston Villa):
Aston Villa is one of the three clubs that dropped to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. The Villans host their rivals at Villa Park, the stadium that was opened in 1897 and its’ capacity is 42,682. However, it has to be noted that the highest attendance recorded at the stadium was 76,588 when Aston Villa faced Derby County in the FA Cup back in 1946.
Aston Villa’s fiercest rivals are Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion. Nonetheless, the rivalry between Aston Villa and Wolves and Coventry City is big as well. Aston Villa have won seven First Division (Premier League) trophies, with the team clinching seven FA Cup trophies as well.
The team’s biggest success, though, came in 1982 when they won the European Cup. The Villans defeated Bayern Munich (1-0) in the title game and Peter Withe was named the man of the match.
