Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Leicester City and Wolverhampton go head to head at King Power Stadium in what is expected to be an entertaining Premier League opener. The Foxes did well to sign Salzburg top scorer Patson Daka in the summer transfer window, with the 22-year-old likely to make his Premier League debut on Saturday. The likes of Cengiz Under, Wes Morgan, Matty James, and Christian Fuchs are no longer part of the team, but the club chiefs did well to keep hold of key players.
As always, a man to watch in the home team will be Jamie Vardy, who scored 15 goals in the 2020/21 Premier League season. However, home win should not be considered as all Evans, Fofana, and Justin are out of contention with injuries. Wolverhampton welcome fit-again Raul Jimenez back to the starting XI, and, taking everything into account, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. All Jonny, Neto, and Podence are out of contention through injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (Wolves):
Wolverhampton are a club that was originally known as St. Luke’s FC. The Wolves play in the Championship and they were founded in 1877. Molineux is the home ground of Wolverhampton and the capacity of the stadium is 31,700. Wolverhampton have won four FA Cup trophies (1893, 1908, 1949, 1960), with the team lifting the League Cup trophy in 1974 and 1980.
The colour of the club’s shirts is orange and they wear black shorts. The Wolves wear blue jerseys when playing away from home. Wolverhampton’s main rivals are West Bromwich Albion and they have been facing each other in the Black Country derby since 1888. In their first meeting in the local derby WBA recorded a 1-0 win over Wolves.
Wolverhampton have won three First Division trophies (1953/1954, 1957/1958, 1958/1959) and they have clinched four FA Cup titles as well (1893, 1908, 1949, 1960). The club’s owner is Steve Morgan.
