Our prediction for this Premier League match:
After rolling over ten-man Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage, Newcastle United will look to record their third win of the season when they host Brentford to their St. James’ Park. The Magpies have suffered only one defeat in the new EPL season, and their display in the crushing of the Cottagers is surely giving fans a reason for optimism. In-form winger Miguel Almiron will be the man to watch in the home team, while Jonjo Shelvey, Alexander Isak, and Emil Krafth remain in the recovery room. Allan Saint-Maximin, though, should be fit for the match.
The Bees, on the other hand, played out a boring goalless draw with Bournemouth at the weekend to drop to 10th place in the standings. The capital club are still eyeing their first away win of the triumph, but seeing that Newcastle United are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we are not tempted to put our money on Ivan Toney and Co. All Norgaard, Lewis-Potter, and Pontus Jansson are sidelined with injuries for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Chris Wood):
Chris Wood is a New Zealand international who was born on 7 December, 1991. Wood plays as a striker and he began his senior career at Waikato FC. In 2009 he joined West Bromwich Albion, but he played no more than 21 league games for the Baggies.
The New Zealand attacker played for the likes of Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham City, Bristol City, Millwall, Leicester City and Ipswich Town on loan in the past, but in July 2015 he signed a four-year deal with Leeds United. Chris Wood scored 13 goals for the Whites in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and he was given the number 9 shirt. Wood made his Leeds debut on 8 August, 2015 in a 1-1 draw against Burnley. Speaking of his debut for New Zealand, he made his first appearance for the All Whites in a friendly game against Tanzania on 3 June. 2009.
It has to be noted that he represented New Zealand at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and he was the youngest player in the squad. His sister Chelsey Wood is a football player as well and she represented New Zealand at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
