Our prediction for this Premier League match:
After rolling over Leicester City 3-0 on the road, Newcastle United will be aiming to stay in top four in the standings when they welcome Newcastle United to their St. James’ Park. The Magpies are eyeing their seventh consecutive league win, and the good news for the home side is that key attacker Callum Wilson should recover in time to face the Whites. Fellow striker Isak, though, remains in the recovery room alongside Shelvey, Krafth, and Dummett.
Meanwhile, the visitors aim to escape the danger zone, but seeing that they have already suffered five defeats on the road this term, we are tempted to put our money on the Champions League-chasing hosts. Both Luis Sinisterra and Archie Gray remain on the sidelines with injuries for the away team. In their last meeting in the Premier League Newcastle United defeated Leeds United thanks to Jonjo Shelvey’s goal.
Highlighted Player (Paul Dummet):
Paul Dummett is a product of Newcastle United’s youth school. His main position is left back, but he is capable of playing as a centre back as well. The defender was born on 26 September, 1991 and he played for the likes of Gateshead and St. Mirren on loan in the past.
Dummett returned to Newcastle United in 2013 and he featured in 18 games for the Magpies in the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign. On the last day of the season, he made a hard tackle on Liverpool attacker Luis Suarez and, in turn received death threats from Uruguay fans on Twitter. The Newcastle United defender scored one goal in 23 appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but he did not help the St. James’ Park outfit avoid relegation to the Championship.
Paul Dummett plays for Wales and he made his debut for the Dragons on June, 2014 against Netherlands. It has to be noted that Dummett won the Scottish League Cup with St. Mirren in the 2012/2013 season.
Highlighted Team (Leeds United):
Leeds United is one of the clubs that won the FA Cup. The Whites outplayed Arsenal in the final of the prestigious competition back in 1972, but they clinched the League Cup trophy as well. Leeds United faced the Gunners in the 1967/1968 League Cup final and it has to be noted that Terry Cooper scored the winner for the Whites.
Leeds play their home games at Elland Road and the capacity of the stadium is 37,914. The club was founded in 1919 and they have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies ever since (1968/1969, 1973/1974, 1991/1992). Leeds United made it to the Champions League final in 1975, but they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the title clash.
The Whites were impressive under David O’Leary. The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer, Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Ian Harte were part of the Elland Road outfit back then and they did well to reach the semis of the Champions League in 2001.
