Our prediction for this Premier League match:
There will be fireworks when Tottenham and Chelsea go head to head at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the London derby. Following three consecutive wins, Spurs were outplayed by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park at the weekend, with the team dropping to seventh place in the standings. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men aim to return to winning ways as soon as possible, but they will have a big fish to fry in the local derby. Korea international Son is a major doubt, while Romero, Sanchez, and Lo Celso return to contention.
As always, Harry Kane will lead the line for the hosts. The Blues, on the other hand, aim to regain the Premier League trophy. New signing Romelu Lukaku has been scoring goals for fun of late, and seeing that Spurs failed to impress in the defeat to Palace, away win should be considered. Christian Pulisic remains in the recovery room, but N’Golo Kante returns to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Harry Kane):
Widely regarded as one of England’s best strikers at the moment, Harry Kane enjoyed a meteoric rise at Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 21 Premier League goals during the 2014/2015 campaign to be voted PFA Young Player of the Year.
The highly rated striker went on to surpass that achievement the following season as he helped Tottenham Hotspur mount a serious title challenge for the first time in club’s recent history and he made seamless transition to international football. Kane scored four goals in his first ten appearances for England to prove he was here to stay and at the same time established himself as a first choice striker in Roy Hodgson’s squad ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.
Kane is a modern striker, who is extremely dangerous in the opposition box, but it was some outstanding goals from distance as well as link-up play with teammates that earned him an excellent reputation in world football. Kane is expected to lead both Tottenham and England in years to come, that is if he can resist the lure of top European clubs that continue to cast admiring glances his way.
Highlighted Team (Chelsea):
Over the years Chelsea have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in the English Premier League. Roberto Di Matteo helped the team win their first ever Champions League trophy (2011/2012), but it has to be noted that they were more than fortunate to beat Bayern Munich in the title game.
Chelsea have been playing at Stamford Bridge since 1876 and they are a real force to be reckoned with at home. The Blues have won seven FA Cups, five League Cups, two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups and the UEFA Europa League. Rafael Benitez was in charge of the team that faced Benfica in the 2012/2013 Europa League final, with Branislav Ivanovic scoring the winner for the Blues in the title clash.
After lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, the Blues largely struggled in the next campaign, which saw Jose Mourinho’s second spell with the club come to an end, and Antoine Conte went over to take the reigns for the 2016/2017 season.
