Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chelsea, Wolverhampton will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Brentford on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves occupy 13th place in the standings, but they are only four points clear of the relegation zone ahead of the visit of Brentford. Jonny has yet to serve his ban, but Ruben Neves is back from suspension. Both Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The Bees, on the other hand, suffered a dip in form, with the team collecting only two points in total from the last four league matches. Since Wolverhampton want this win more than Brentford, we are tempted to put our money on Julen Lopetegui’s troops. All Ajer, Onyeka, and Lewis-Potter are out of contention through injuries, while Pontus Jansson is a major doubt, and the defender will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
Highlighted Player (Raul Jimenez):
Argentine forward Raul Jimenez began his career within the youth ranks of Club America, a club he went on to play 102 matches in all competitions and score 39 goals for before his 2014 move to Atletico Madrid. Despite signing a six-year deal with La Liga outfit in a reported transfer fee worth €11 million, Raul Jimenez never really managed to get his foot on the ground with the Colchineros.
After only 21 games and one goal for Atletico Madrid, the Mexico international moved to Portugal after his collapsed loan move to West Ham. Raul Jimenez missed the flight to London after reportedly oversleeping, but various reports suggest that he was advised by his agent Jorge Mendes to choose Benfica instead.
Portuguese giants initially acquired 50% of the player’s economic rights, while the remaining share of Jimenez’s contract was purchased in the summer of 2016 for a fee believed to be around €12 million. During his maiden season with the Eagles Mexico international played 28 Primeira Liga games, contributing with five goals during the process.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
