Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Athletic Bilbao will be aiming to record their first win of the season when they welcome Valencia to their Estadio San Mames on Wednesday evening. The Lions failed to impress in a 2-1 loss to Barcelona at the weekend, but they are still seen as favourites to beat los Che in the Basque Country. As always, all eyes will be on the Williams brothers, while summer signing Alvaro Djalo remains in the recovery room alongside Paredes, Ruiz de Galarreta, Serrano, and goalkeeper Unai Simon.
Valencia, meanwhile, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-1 loss to Celta Vigo. Considering that over the years Athletic Club have turned their “San Mames” into a real fortress, we are tempted to place our bets on Ernesto Valverde’s troops. In their last meeting in the Spanish second tier Valencia defeated Athletic Bilbao 1-0, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Iñaki Williams):
Inaki Williams is one of the most talented Spanish players. The pacey winger, who plays as a centre-forward as well, started his senior career at Basconia, scoring seven goals in 18 appearances for the club. In 2014 he moved to Athletic Bilbao, but he played for the reserve team at the beginning.
Inaki impressed in the 2014/2015 season with Athletic Bilbao B and, as a result, he was given a chance to prove his worth in the Spanish top flight with the first team. The Spanish footballer made his La liga debut on December 6, 2014, replacing injured attacker Aritz Aduriz in a 1-0 loss to Cordoba.
Inaki Williams represented Spain at the 2017 U21 European Championship in Poland and he played 20 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Germany in the final of the tournament. Speaking of the senior squad, the Athletic Bilbao footballer made his Spain debut in a 3-1 victory over Bosnia on May 29, 2016. Inaki Williams was born in Bilbao on June 15, 1994.
Highlighted Team (Valencia):
Founded on March 18, 1919, Valencia FC are a Spanish football club that compete in La Liga. Los Che play their home games at Estadio de Mestalla, the stadium which was opened back in May, 1923. The capacity of the venue is 50,000. Seeing that bats are quite common in Valencia, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Bats.
Valencia made it to the Champions League final on two occasions (2000, 2001), but they were beaten in the title games by Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen respectively. The Spanish club, though, did well to win the UEFA Cup title in the 2003/2004 season, with the team beating Marseille in the final of the competition.
A number of top-class footballers were part of the club in the past, with the likes of Pablo Aimar, Ruben Baraja, David Albelda, Santiago Canizares, John Carew and Gaizka Mendieta all playing for the Estadio de Mestalla outfit. Valencia main colors are white and black, whilst they often where orange jerseys and shorts when playing on the travels.
