Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Atletico Madrid will look to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Mallorca when they host Espanyol to their Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Matchday 32. Los Rojiblancos are desperate to stay in the Champions League berth, and seeing that both Real Sociedad and Real Betis are breathing down their neck, Sunday’s clash is of big importance for Diego Simeone’s troops. Joao Felix is pushing for a start, while Angel Correa is back from suspension.
You should know that Atletico are eyeing their fourth consecutive win at home ground. Los Periquitos, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad, with the team beating Celta Vigo thanks to Wu Lei’s goal. The China international is pushing for a start, while there are no fresh injury worries in the away team. Anyhow, home win should be considered as Espanyol often struggle on the travels.
Highlighted Player (Luis Suarez):
Luis Suarez is a controversial footballer who plays for La Liga side Barcelona as a striker. The Uruguayan forward moved to Europe in 2006, signing a deal with Groningen. After scoring 10 goals in 27 league appearances for the club in the 2006/2007 Eredivisie campaign, he joined Ajax at the end of the season. The prolific striker scored no less than 81 goals in 110 appearances for Ajax and, as a result, Liverpool chiefs decided to sign him on 31 January 2011.
Suarez became the club’s most expensive signing and he was producing thrilling performances with the Anfield outfit between 2011 and 2014. Liverpool were on the verge of winning the 2013/2014 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and they eventually finished the season in second place in the standings.
In 2014 Suarez joined Barcelona and he was the top scorer in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. He won the 2013/2014 Premier League Golden Boot as well and in 2011 he clinched the Copa America trophy with Uruguay.
Highlighted Team (Espanyol):
Espanyol are a Catalan club that plays in Spanish La Liga. Espanyol were founded in 1900 and their original name was Sociedad Espanola de Football. In 1901 the Catalan club changed its name to Club Espanol de Futbol. Los Periquitos used to play in bright yellow shirts in the past, but current colour of the team’s home kit is blue and white.
Espanyol’s fiercest rivals are Barcelona and the two teams face each other in the Catalan derby (Derbi barceloni). Espanyol have always been in Barca’s shadow, but it has to be noted that los Periquitos have won four Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup trophies).
The likes of Raul Tamudo, Jose Maria, Antonio Argiles and Mauricio Pochettino are players with most appearances for the Catalan outfit. Espanyol play their home games at Estadio Cornella-El Prat and the capacity of the stadium is 40,500. Los Periquitos have never participated in the Champions League.
