Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Buoyed by a thrilling 4-1 win over Cadiz, Atletico Madrid will look to melt Real Madrid’s advantage in the La Liga standings when they host Mallorca to their Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. Los Rojiblancos impressed in their last league fixture, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to defend the trophy. Jose Gimenez, who suffered an injury in the triumph over Cadiz, has joined Thomas Lemar and Renan Lodi in the recovery room.
Los Bermellones, on the other hand, are on a seven-game winless run in the Spanish top flight, and they are unlikely to spoil Atletico’s party in Madrid. Goalkeeper Dominik Greif has been tested positive for coronavirus, while all Salva Sevilla, Matthew Hoppe, and Antonio Raillo are likely to miss the game with injuries. In their last meeting in La Liga Atletico Madrid rolled over Mallorca 3-0.
Highlighted Player (Luis Suarez):
Luis Suarez is a controversial footballer who plays for La Liga side Barcelona as a striker. The Uruguayan forward moved to Europe in 2006, signing a deal with Groningen. After scoring 10 goals in 27 league appearances for the club in the 2006/2007 Eredivisie campaign, he joined Ajax at the end of the season. The prolific striker scored no less than 81 goals in 110 appearances for Ajax and, as a result, Liverpool chiefs decided to sign him on 31 January 2011.
Suarez became the club’s most expensive signing and he was producing thrilling performances with the Anfield outfit between 2011 and 2014. Liverpool were on the verge of winning the 2013/2014 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and they eventually finished the season in second place in the standings.
In 2014 Suarez joined Barcelona and he was the top scorer in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. He won the 2013/2014 Premier League Golden Boot as well and in 2011 he clinched the Copa America trophy with Uruguay.
Highlighted Team (Mallorca):
Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
Back in 1999 Mallorca made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, with the team suffering a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the title game. Four years later los Bermellones won Spanish Copa del Rey, which is considered the club’s biggest success.
