All eyes will be on Estadio Wanda Metropolitano when Atletico Madrid and Villarreal square off against each other in the La Liga derby. Los Rojiblancos have been struggling to find their best form at the start of the season and, as a result, boss Diego Simeone is under big pressure ahead of Villarreal’s visit. Summer signing Matteo Ruggeri is pushing for a start, while both Jose Maria Gimenez and Alex Baena remain in the recovery room.
The Yellow Submarine, on the other hand, made a promising start to the season, with the team recording back-to-back wins over Real Oviedo (2-0) and Girona (5-0) at home, while sharing the spoils with Celta Vigo at “Balaidos”. Playing as a winger or second striker, Griezmann possesses impressive technical skills, he is a strong finisher and still finds time to work hard for his side, so no wonder he is widely regarded as one of the leading forwards on the continent. He won the U19 European Championship with France and is tipped to lead Les Bleus to glory on senior level as well.

Villarreal CF was founded on 10th of March 1923. In the year 1998 Villarreal managed to reach the Primera Division for the first time in history of the club. After 1 season the club could not manage to stay in the league and go regulated to the Segunda Division. This first European succes was in 2003/2004 where the club managed to reach the semi finals in the UEFA cup. In 2004/2005 Villarreal end 3rd on the table in the Primera Division which was a highlight for the club.
